It's not a brain twister but it is a back room issue. If I recall correctly, the back room was created after a rather bitter and nasty political argument caused the moderators to create a back room for members to jaw about political and social issues and to keep discussions on the sports board confined to events in the sporting universe. There are times when the political/social world intersect with sports such as the NFL and its national anthem policy or when Trump criticized LeBron James on Twitter or how the SEC has changed so dramatically in forty years regarding the participation of black athletes in their conference and I'll leave it to the moderators to decide whether those issues should be sports or back board topics

But, the Urban topic was clearly an issue about a sports topic. To shoehorn Trump into the topic defeats the entire purpose of why the back board was created. The moderators are not censoring anyone but are simply asking those who wish to offer their opinions on social and political matters to move their soapbox to a different area of the board.

This board is symptomatic of what we have going on in America

Agreement can be reached that a football coach like Meyer is accused, internally investigated and pays a price.... which he must accept without a whole lot of fanfare and the resultant ding to his reputation and many here will always accuse him of having issues with character and ethics.

Meanwhile the president of our country could have put Hillary in jail just by naming her to his cabinet... can't accept the least amount blame for anything he has has ever done or said.... professes to know more about everything than anyone else.... is demeaning to women and is basically called out and rejected posthumously by a national hero and yet he is revered by otherwise intelligent people because of the worst bipartisan division this country has ever seen.

Many many millions of Americans in all walks of life feel the same as I do they just don't post on this board so I am left without much support.... on this board.

There is nothing "hysterical" about it.... it'a all over all walks of life in the US and is becoming more rampant and growing everyday.

Good luck here with your Trump love-in.

    MCG, what a sob story.

You are a guy who always tries to go around the rules to do what you want.

The request was simple, keep the politics out of the Sports board and it leads to the ridiculous post above.

Still Bill..... since we are in the proper forum to mention HIS name.... I find it curious how we can villify a guy like Meyer and yet deify a guy like Trump.

It's been ok for two decades for conservative media to just make **** up and embellish the truth and yet at 4 am we get a tweet such as this from Trump:

"Trump took to Twitter at 5:24 a.m. to send this message:

"Google search results for 'Trump News' shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake New Media. In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out. Illegal? 96% of results on 'Trump News' are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous. Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed"

Seems very dangerous to me that he selectively threatens some news outlets who may not kiss his ass as does Fox News.

He sees himself more in the form and tenor of a Putin than he does a Reagan.

We saw Bush hammered day in and day out by the petty, untruthful shits who make up the mainstream media. Abu grahib and the SOTU speech mentioning yellow cake uranium were on the front page of failing rags like The NY Times for weeks on end. Trump refuses to put up with their **** unchallenged. Who cares about encounters a millionaire playboy had years ago? (The shits in the media and anti Trump delusional morons who expect Republican politicians to just take any crap they dish out.) You lost, grow up and accept it.

Fake stuff on social media and bias in algorithms are what should be an obvious concern to everybody. Trump was reacting to an article that came out on PJ Media (an admittedly conservative blog). Perhaps he jumped on it too quickly, as he often does, but it brings up a fair concern.

    https://pjmedia.com/trending/google-search-results-show-pervasive-anti-trump-anti-conservative-bias/

Also on Monday there was an article from the Washington Post by a reporter from ThinkProgress that brings up similar concerns about the power of social media to pick and choose, and to be fooled by fake sites from either side of the aisle.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/democracy-post/wp/2018/08/23/it-turns-out-russia-isnt-the-only-country-turning-facebook-and-twitter-against-us/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.50a4c897c7d5

This kind of stuff should be of concern to everybody...

Half of the country has seemed lately to want to stray from what has served us so well for 242 years.

A movement led by a swamp draining circus pitchman who seemingly has no regard for history or what worked well for so many years.

Truth in media.... first grievously attacked and amended by one conservative TV news network is now fair game for all conservative media.

Our institutions have been under attack by the president himself with no real offers of improvement other than "you're fired!"

Damn.... maybe I am starting to get hysterical.....

Also on the slate are the socialist democrats, they are rising in popularity and they are starting to win elections.

I'm no fan of them, but at the same time, I have always heeded the old adage about the 2 party system becoming the undoing of the country. Maybe we've just reached that evolutionary moment in which we need to fracture into 4 or 5 parties to ensure accurate representation in government?

This week’s fake news item Is perfect example. Lanny Davis was quoted as saying that his client Michael Cohen was going to testify that Trump knew beforehand about a meeting with Russians in Trump tower. Davis has recanted his statement and all the media sources who gleefully carried that piece of fake news retracted it. All except one the biggest propaganda outfit of them all CNN. They like this lie so much that they can’t bring themselves to retract it. I notice Dave how often you provide links to CNN stories as though they have any credibility. Their ratings are less than the Food Network probably because they cook up news instead of reporting it.

Gipper.... I'll usually check something out on politifact.org to see the veracity of what is reported in links I provide because I truly abhor posting untrue crap that is strictly someone's opinion.... unless it is blatantly and openly presented as just an opinion... not as a fact.

I may be old school about it but political blogs and other purposely slanted news media outlets are virtually useless to me for factual statements unless I can verify those facts myself.

Corey.... amen to the need for a multi-party system.... it's time for sure.

We used to have differences within the GOP.....choices.... moderates vs. tea party etc. but Trump's Mad Max approach and the fever his followers have contracted have made it a tow the Trump line or forget it proposition for the rest of those in the party who could have varying opinions of things... like a John McCain. Now it's just Trump mass hysteria.

I think the Dems still have layers of liberalism.... some very liberal and some more moderate, etc. and some choices within the party can still be made.

Trump is not really Republican. Definitely not Democrat. That's why he was elected. That's why he'll be re-elected. People are sick of the political parties.

Trump has effectively disbanded the old Republican party and reformed it into the ultra conservative Mad Max party.....

Everybody on board or leave the ship is his way..... no room for dissenters.

He's the David Miscavige of Washington. Trumptology.....

I see that Babs Streisand is saying she's moving to Canada again. Last time she said it was when Hillary v Trump was going on, now she says unless the Democrats take the House she's moving to Canada.

OK damn it please do it finally! I get so tired of these Hollywood Celebs all saying they are leaving the USA for Canada or England or someplace because they just can't live here is somebody they don't like is the President, their Senator, or whatever. Please leave!

Like the rest of Hollywood who have made similar threats, she is not going anywhere. They have no market anywhere else. Their immediate danger is that they have a dwindling market here as their "fans" grow weary of all their nonsense.
