NASA landed on Mars today in an old crater. They're searching for signs of life, with a giant rover vehicle and a helicopter that takes flight tomorrow.
Watched it live...reminded me of taking 2 of my grandkids to "Grandparents University" 2 years ago at Purdue. They "majored" in Aeronautical Engineering and Grandpa and Elias had to build a lander that an egg would survive dropped from the balcony in the Neal Armstrong AE Building. First test landing (with hard boiled egg) failed...but made halftime adjustments for the raw egg and it survived.
I started out intending to major in Aeronautical Engineering but took both the basic Aeronautical course and Basic Electrical Engineering course the same semester and like the Electrical one better. Thus quite a number of years later when I finally graduated I became an Electrical Engineer.
A bit of a thread drift...but if you have Apple TV and haven't watched "For All Mankind"...2 seasons, first one was in 2019. It's an alternate history of the Space race where the Russians landed on the moon first. To me it's been very good.
