    With a big game tomorrow night (IU should be favored at Assembly Hall, unless DJ White can't play) I thought I'd post a trip down memory lane:

    That's a pretty good read. If you'd have asked me I would have thought their head to head record would be decidedly in favor o Knight. Also while I remember the chair incident I didn't remember it was against Purdue.

    Who were the coaches at IU and Purdue when you were an undergraduate?

    George King was the Purdue coach when I was there. (He later became
    Athletic Director...he's mentioned in the article...Gary Danielson married his daughter.)

    Bob Knight became coach while I was a sophmore at Purdue...I'm having trouble remembering or finding his predesessor.

    Boilers ranked #15 (big jump)...IU ranked #14.

    Lou Watson, I believe.

    I remember George King. He was a very good coach as I recall. I did not know that Gary Danielson married his daughter.

    Nice article. Being raised in southern Indiana and still a Hoosier at heart, it's hard to see the stuff that has gone on at IU the past few years. <br/>
    <br/>
    Knight was great for IU but he stayed too long and the game/kids have changed too much (unfortunatly). <br/>
    <br/>
    Someone already said this but IU needs to get a good young coach and get through this crap that Sampson is going to leave them with. <br/>
    <br/>
    Indiana has more that enough High school basketball talent to keep them as a top 10 school each year if the program gets right again. Knight's reputation was running them off the last few years he coached. <br/>

    Stu, you will like this one. My daughter we be at the game Tues. She will be rooting for PU unfortunately. Don't know where I went wrong with her. <E:mad:</E></r>

    Sometimes kids see the light and are smarter than their parents. :wink:

    Sorry your daughter and I got a loss but I'm not surprised...we were never really clicking well in that game...shooting (and FT's) much colder than we've been and DJ White was a force inside.

    Plenty of hoops left, though. I really like Matt Painter.

    IMO DJ White was the difference, the senior vs. the underclassmen. He is a seasoned leader, and it showed. However, the Boilers showed that despite their youth, they can fight through an ugly first half - They don't get much uglier than that one for either team - and still get as close as 2 points toward the end. Both teams played very tough defense throughout the game, which is why I think they both will go far in the NCAA tournament. The mop-headed Purdue kid needs to learn how to shoot free throws.

    Sid...it was one of those brick-laying nights...hard to criticize them for the season (72%) :(
