I thought I would start this topic and leave the Final Four Topic for the actual teams playing. I know there some conversation there relavent to this topic so anyone can decide for themselves where to post. Here's an interesting article from the Scout Network. Coaching Openings Gator Bill
That is pretty interesting. Esp the comments about Ernie Kent wanting out of Oregon. Things must have really gone sour for him there, inspite of his sweet 16 run this year. Way back when he was the only other candidate for the ND job when Mike Brey was hired, it was rumoured at that time that he was a West Coast guy and didn't want to leave. So why is he suddenly in the mix at Michigan. I would think Tom Crean would also be in the mix for the Michigan job, more so than Paul Hewlitt at Ga. Tech. Crean would have much better contacts in the Midwest. Maybe his close relationship with MSU coach Tom Izzo is the problem. I just hope Rick Barnes doesn't leave Austin. He's done very well and is very well liked. Terry
As I can bet you already know Terry I interested in one of those openings, Kentucky. I'm hoping that writer has his finger on the pulse of Billy D's thoughts. :? :? Gator Bill
Here's another article. Our president wants Billy to talk to Kentucky, but he's confident he will be a Gator for life and we can pay as well as Kentucky. Go Ahead And Talk To Kentucky Billy, But Stay A Gator Gator Bill
I haven't heard anything, but I would not be surprised if Butler coach Todd Lickliter's name is mentioned here and there for some openings.
Sid, I certainly think that Iowa should give Todd a long hard look. He knows the territory and already has recruiting relationships. Terry
Interesting comment on ESPN radio this morning that the Miami Heat might be looking at Donovan, once the Gators complete their season. Don
I saw on another board that Donavans Agent has a 3.5million/year - 7year contract from Kentucky for BillyD to consider. That's a pile of money.
Was on the road earlier and heard on ESPN that Iowa has asked TN for permission to talk to Bruce Pearle. Not sure what incentive there would be for Pearle to make the move. (also posted on "Heath Out @ Arkansas" topic) Edit: Just after I posted, I read on ESPN that he is not interested.
Can you ... <t>Imagine the Rivals boards if BD actually would leave Florida?<br/> <br/> Off topic but the McDonalds game is on tonight at 7:00 Central. Never anything but playground ball but you do get to see the future stars of college basketball.</t>
Fun.... <t>To watch the prospects. Beasley off to K-State will continue to elevate that program. They are now a legit pain and concern for all in the Big 12.<br/> <br/> UCLA gets a real good center in Love. I think all the usual powers had guys committed in the game. Lucas who went to my old HS (Bellaire) is going to be a nice catch for the one that finally lands him in the upcoming signing period. A&M and Texas did not land any of this crew but that is rare now.</t>
Thanks for the link Don. I did check the list of kids who were candidates, and A&M's DeAndre Jordan was there, but he wasn't selected to play. Can't wait to see that kid in Maroon!!
Pure speculation, but I read somewhere today that Donovan is probably the first choice and Tom Izzo, Michigan State a strong second. Don
Scott... <t>I've seen him play and while a bit raw he is a top prospect that anyone would love to have. There are two great SOPH guards here in Houston that are national recruits one of which recently committed to LSU and the other one I was told likes A&M. <br/> <br/> Wait till you see the Holmes kid from Houston as well. He is a jet.</t>
