Several sources are reporting it's a done deal (paperwork) and that Fields will be on campus this afternoon. Classes commence Monday and he will be enrolled for the semester and will be eligible for Spring practice. A waiver is in the works, to play this year, but certainly not guaranteed. Apparently, Haskins has made up his mind for the NFL draft, but not officially announced at the moment.
If his reason for the waiver is that he feels unsafe at Georgia because someone in the stands said something that included the N word, that he only found out after the game, that to me seems thin and should be denied Real reason is he doesn't want to sit behind Fromm, especially after seeing what Lawrence did this year. I thought all those players from Ole Miss who were granted immediate eligibility was thin but this is even thinner .
Just to be clear I am not suggesting that there is anything wrong with a kid wanting to transfer to improve his situation I just worry that we will loosen the rules so much that players will become free agents I like the portal where kids can put their name and schools can legally contact them to discuss possible transfer. I think kids should not be restricted by their former teams or conferences in their choices of schools..
Good question kp, obviously no one knows at this point. Tate has been very vocal that he thinks he will win the battle. If Fields waiver is denied Martel will be the starter in my opinion. Terry, Baldwin says he has no reason to consider transferring at this point.
Before it can be determined if Fields starts next year he will have to get the NCAA to declare him eligible. I don't see that happening unless the NCAA significantly weakens the transfer rule.
Next year, folks forgot all about the original Georgia QB but he'll be starting for Washington against Auburn.
Corey, that's a little different in that Eason was a starter, got hurt and couldn't get his job back. Is he going to be the starter next year Washington?
Bill, it seems to be the whole NCAA Organization is the weak link anymore. They make all of these rules, but do not seem to enforce them?
Don, BINGO! Corey and I have been banging this drum for a long time. The NCAA can't even follow their own regulations.
So we could have three Georgia QB's starting, one at Georgia, one at Washington and one at Ohio State. Pretty awesome.
