:?: Who? Never heard of this guy. He claims that he always wanted to play against Ohio State and he was a Michigan fan...so he went to Florida? Somebody is kidding somebody here...
His career has not been as good as he or the Gators thought when he arrived. He has had a injury ridden career, mostly his shoulder. But he has made some important first downs in close games when we needed to control the ball this year. I think saying his career went ok about describes it, as he and Gators awaited that breakout season which never quite came.
Wynn has rushed for 630 yards on 124 carries this season for a per carry average of 5 yards. If he had been healthy all season he would most definitely be a 1,000 yard rusher. He is playing against "his homeboys". He will contribute significantly in this game.
Well ..... if there was ever a time for D Wynn to "have a big game" ...... this is it. This is setting up nicely to be the game for which he will always be remembered ..... or not. Same for C Leak .... who really needs to avoid the "3rd quarter loss of focus" ..... for UF to have any chance at winning.
In his 45-game career at UF, Wynn's carried the ball 18 or more times in a game only two times. He's had only 8 games with 15 or more carries.
Damn...sorry I've missed all this....LOTS of talking going on. I said the same to Gonzo a couple years back....Bring it, don't sing it! Reminds me of a story about a rowboat and a battleship. May God bless the USS Buckeye!
Gaterz, I think Florida will not want to get in a shootout with OSU. I think some grind it out ball control with some inside running threat will keeps the Bucs defense honest and give Leak the time he needs to make a few throws. A healthy Wynn is the key to this approach and if he has success that opens things up for Harvin and Leak and Baker to have a few big plays. I could see UF winning such a game by a 27-23 type score.
MCG, 27 points would be a veritable offensive explosion by Gator standards would it not? The two worst defenses on your conference schedule - KY and Vandy - did not give up 27 points to you. Just out of curiousity, why do you believe your offense will be more successful against us than either KY of Vandy?
MCG I think Wynn needs to be productive from his TB slot but don't see him racking up big yardage unless he should be lucky enough to break a couple of big runs. To win the game I believe UF needs to rush the ball for 120 yards .... and I see that being spread around to several different guys - Wynn, Fayson, Harvin, Tebow, Leak, and Caldwell. T Why is it necessary that the offense score all of the points?
BT This a big game atmosphere....this biggest stage. Florida will be healthy on offense for the first time in a long time and they will be playing at maximum ability and motivation. Michigan averages 30.2 points per game on offense and Fla averages 28.85 ppg on offense. Michigan ran up 39 points at Columbus on OSU. I think UF can score 27 in Glendale. Besides...I look for UF to get 7 after a blocked punt, int return or something similar.
I see Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia, So CAr, FSU and I don't see more than 21 points in any of those ballgames.....that's in addition to the sub-par efforts against Vandy and KY. Certainly 27 by your offense against our defense is possible but based on a seasons worth of evidence on both sides, the chances would seem to be remote at a minimum. No doubt a score on special teams or defense would aid your cause.....that said, I don't think we've given up any points on special teams this year or turnovers. Not to say if can't happen, only to say that thus far it has not.
WRT the statistics for "scoring offense" and "scoring defense" ..... are they really accurate? What about special teams (punt & KO returns, blocked kicks for TDs) and defensive scores?
That depends on what the definition of "is" is.....however you want to count 'em Gaterz, but don't forget that at the end of the day, points is the only thing that counts. Don't fall into the "comfort food" trap.
What are the Gators stats if you take away that 62-0 game vs 1AA W.Carolina? That would seem to have an inordinate amount of influence on the stats, yet not really be germaine to comparissons.
