Anyone tried to purchase insurance from the AHCA exchanges? Now I know Dave gets his medical insurance for free but I was wondering if anyone has or knows if anyone has tried or actually bought insurance.

I wish....or maybe even for the paltry expense paid by the GOP controlled legislators of Florida....

No.... my choice isn't all that swift...... costs me thousands upon thousands annually.

    Well here's the thing.

I'm suppose to be getting it through my employer eventually. However, there may be a problem with the plan as it doesn't seem to meet the '10 point standard.' I've run into this with a lot of my friends who will be losing their coverage through their employer because their employer's plan doesn't meet the 10 point standard.

The issue at hand has to do with birth control. As a man, obviously, my plan wouldn't call for it. However, under the new AHCA standards, this would be considered to be an unviable plan.

To be honest, I'm not sure what's going to happen. Either my employer will get a new plan, or I'll have to buy one on the market place.

A secondary issue at hand is the coverage gap in the plan. It has something like a $5k deductible. However, the first $10k for each person covered is paid for 100%. No copays, nada. You're responsible for the next $5k and then the coverage kicks in again.

For the vast majority of the years I've been on this planet, this would be rather dream coverage since I could routinely go to the Drs and get things checked on as needed. That is something I've basically not done for 4 decades. There's obviously that great 2 year exception when I used it all the time, but even then, my coverage was horrendous with high up front deductibles and percentage coverage on the backside of the coverage gap. That really sucked.

A few self-employed folks I know are really upset as they're basically going to get drilled by this. Their old policies don't meet the guidelines and those they've browsed through the marketplace are much more expensive for essentially the same coverage that they already have.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I believe mandatory insurance does nothing but inflate the industry and prop up the insurance companies to rake in the profits.

Just watched a news segment where weeks into this only 5% of people have been able to get through online to sign up. Our lovely leaders in DC only spent 4.2 million to build the site....

Another real life addition to Obama care is the dreaded pass the buck. We already have been notified to expect $.20 per box subtracted from each box sold to the packinghouse we sell our fruit to. This will be used to pay for the added cost he will now have to pay for his 350 employees. He has debated taking the $100,000 fine assessed to his business if he does not comply because it still may be cheaper. Either way our business has no one to pass the buck down to so we will be out $20,000.

Oh yeah, love and happiness in the good ole USA, it's just radiating in excess around here...
