AJ, Just happened to check in this evening before going to bed. I know this is a very important message on your part. However, there are two identical posts , posted at the same time. Such incidents cause me a great concern in my senior years. Which post should I respond to from you?
jif, AJ had posted a nice note about how much he has enjoyed the Skybox and its members. However, it felt maybe we were dying as a group over the years since Prodigy. There were two identical posts at the same time last around 11:41 P.M. Both posts were gone this morning which is a bit confusing.
As long as O'Keefe posts, SB remains a vibrant communicative beast! He is now only 85 posts away from the magic 40,000 posts threshold. We need a countdown clock or maybe a New Years Eve pole but probably we should use a BAPP in place of a shining ball.
Bobda I think 50K is the real goal, maybe we could have a get together at gippers new place in the Villages and I could make my 50,000th post with the whole crew around. Gip has a large family so I'm sure he's going to have at least 5 or 6 guest rooms at his new place so he can accomodate us all no doubt!
Pass that pipe Doc. Gip's downsizing and swearing off stairs. Three bedrooms and 2 golf carts are the way to go. 8)
I read it AJ and I appreciate you putting the effort into letting us know, and I happen to agree with you. I just don't have a lot to say, and there are some people who post more when I post less, so I post less for the time being.
hmmm maybe then we should have Bobda look into renting Michigan Stadium for our get together. It's available for proms and other events. After reading this article I have to wonder if when the ND Stadium Project is finished in a couple of years will we be doing the same thing. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/04/28/michigan-stadium-gets-ready-for-prom-season/8386235/
When your home schedule looks like this crap below and longtime season tickets holders are starting to say no mas to being gouged, guess proms and monster truck rallies become needed revenue streams: Sat., Aug. 30 vs. Appalachian State Michigan Stadium TBA Sat., Sep. 13 vs. Miami (Ohio) Michigan Stadium TBA Sat., Sep. 20 vs. Utah Michigan Stadium TBA Sat., Sep. 27 vs. Minnesota * Michigan Stadium TBA Sat., Oct. 11 vs. Penn State * Michigan Stadium 7:00 p.m. ET Sat., Nov. 1 vs. Indiana - Homecoming * Michigan Stadium TBA Sat., Nov. 22 vs. Maryland * Michigan Stadium TBA
Turns out that you can rent various room/venues in Texas Memorial Stadium, even on Game day for some extra bucks. One room rents for 5K and has view of the Tower, didn't say it had a view of the stadium though. Smaller rooms are available for less. I guess the amount of money schools are putting into stadiums/arenas these days dictate that they need to generate more than just football gameday revenue.
AJ I read your thoughts as well and appreciate the sincerity and effort you shared. I have to say that I agree with everything you took the time to say, Skybox is the first stop I always hit to see what my alternative family since 1998 has to share. I'm probably at the bottom to topics and responses concerning the board. It probably has to do with my being a Cane fan which is and always will be the enemy of college football fans here and everywhere. It's like a brand you can't remove but that's ok, I didn't like thugs myself in that era... I work more hours than our Lord intended men to work, lol, at least more than any union would ever allow their folks to work. This prevents me from being up to date on most current events and preludes me from even considering a facebook account, besides my wife makes up for the difference. This has been a spectacular board and retreat from the insanity of hate, jealousy and spite I have encountered elsewhere. I have even begun to appreciate Gator fans, Husker fans and Irish fans regardless of that still small voice telling me to run the other way.... Hell I am the proud father of a Gator at the moment and paying for all that orange and blue even though it offends the senses....
I didn't get to read AJ's original post(s), but it sounds like he said something important that struck a chord with those who read it.
AJ's post was a keeper for sure. And Ralphie is becoming the poet laureate of SkyBox. I too hope to visit his operation one day. Gipper will stop by as soon as he gets out of the sinkhole at The Villages. This is the place where the cool people meet and greet.
