People in Texas are barely aware of the Red Sox existence, I mean their not the Yankees. Nobody cares about the American League.
........so how come when sox go down there to play Rangers...most fans are cheering for red sox? This is Americas Team my man!! When Sox go to Anaheim in the playoffs next week..you will hear loud and clear.. LETS GO RED SOX!!!!!
Maybe in Ft. Worth/Dallas area since the Rangers are AL. But here in Houston we have big crowds for most teams so if the Red Sox comes to town it's just another Big crowd. If it wasn't for Roger Clemens most of us couldn't even name a Red Sox player other than Ted Williams and the younger folks can't even do that.
Wasn't Pesky a pitcher for the Red Sox? No wait that was Babe Ruth! Now Lou Boudreau, that was a player.
Speaking of combatants, here's a reason to remember Pesky, if for no other... Sure, they weren't giving up as much in the way of salary back in those days relative to the present, but what they were risking was the same then as it is today.
