I see where Jo's contract with the Nittany Lions has been extended through the 2011 season.

Either party may alter the contract if desired within the three year extension.

Only escape clause for Joe is if the Florida job opens up!

    Paterno will turn 82 Sunday.

Good news as that means Bobby Bowden will want to stay on at FSU for just as long!!

Clearly Joe isn't in control of the Team, as an outsider when you see Joe wandering the sidelines only occassionally talking to assistants, not wearing a headset you just have to believe that he's a figurehead HC at this point. I'm sure he probably can overrule anything he wants, but it's the Asst's that run the day/day program at PSU. It's currently working for them and I never read that Bradley, or his Son, or the OCoord (forget his name) are unhappy and looking for jobs. So there is little incentive to change.

They had a great season this year, it would have been a good time for Joe to step aside (offically), but as long as the team is rolling along winning 9 or more games a year and Joe's healthy enough to roam the sidelines, come to practice everyday then they can keep this up for as long as they want.

I just don't believe Joe is a head coach in the same sense that Pete Carroll, or Jim Tressel, or Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops or Mack Brown, or .....even Bobbah Bowden..

Isn't the PSU OC Galen Hall .... UF HBC in the late 80s?

Hmmm ... wonder who'll he be cheering for in the FedEx BCS game as Hall was also OC at Oklahoma.

There is no such thing. As long as the buck stops with him, he is THE head coach in every sense of the word, headset or no headset. His coaching style may not be the same as others, but he is the guy who motivates and leads his team.

Wasn't Hall given the old heave ho by UF? Seems like he'd be rooting for OU. :)

Yeh, I guess so. However, maybe Hall is intersted in returning to UF once Meyer leaves for the ND job? Those that canned GH (over some minor vilations that caused NCAA sanctions) are long gone and he was a popular coach with many in the Gator Nation.

I read on an Auburn board that Saban is just biding time in Tuscaloosa till the Irish fire Charlie and he gets his dream job. That would be quite a deal, Saban and Meyer fighting over the Fighting Irish job!! :)
