HBO is running a two hour documentary on #32. It is very, very good. I watched it last night. The best running back I ever saw.....
I was going to watch it, but got sidetracked. How much was devoted to his politics I don't really care about all the post football crap he's done.
Jim was in Rhode Island a week or so ago for a big golf tourney.( There are 3 or 4 Rhode Islanders among the top 20 or 30 golfers who run it every year . Dont recall names because I have no interest in golf, but I know they are in the news all the time) Anyway.. Jim Brown was here and he looked GREAT..he was in terrific condition, complete with his Yarmulka! Looked like he could take on Sam Huff! jif
His politics are fine with me, at least the way he glossed over them in the show. He's about self-improvement, economic development and personal responsibility among African-Americans. His greatest influences, and most were on the show, were white. He grew up in a middle class Long Island white suburb. He impressed me.
Jim grew up in Manhassett in Nassau County. The say on saturdays, he'd compete in the morning track meets winning the sprints, high jump and shot put. He then would suit up for the afternoon football games. If you are too young to have seen him, just imagine a cross between Earl Cambell and OJ Simpson.
