According to this article that might be his best option.

Personally I think it's great that this is catching up with him, FSU and the Police who tried to hide it all.

As new reports by The New York Times and Fox Sports portray Florida State as impeding investigations into the alleged misconduct conduct of Jameis Winston and other football players, the school has reportedly informed Winston that he will face a disciplinary hearing into allegations that he raped a fellow Florida State student in December 2012.

To date, Winston has avoided any finding of fault. In December 2013, State Attorney Willie Meggs announced that Winston would not be criminally charged with sexual assault. While the statute of limitations on charging Winston will not expire until 2017, there is no indication at this time that law enforcement plans to re-open the case.

Florida State’s disciplinary hearing would examine whether Winston, who has not been charged by the school with any misconduct and who played for the Seminoles on Saturday against Syracuse, violated university code of conduct rules related to sexual conduct.

According to ESPN.com, the disciplinary hearing into Winston would employ an unconventional method whereby three individuals who are not affiliated with Florida State but who have been picked by the university would be eligible to evaluate Winston. Winston and his accuser would each be able to strike one of the three. Typically at Florida State, code of conduct hearings occur after a student has been charged and a committee of students, faculty and staff serves as judges. Florida State has proposed this alternative arrangement in light of the university’s own involvement in the scandal.
Winston has five days to notify Florida State’s Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities to begin the disciplinary process. As I explain below, Winston and his attorneys may be privately considering a radical option: Winston dropping out of school. He could then sign with an agent and begin preparations for the 2015 NFL draft. Alternatively, Winston could petition a Florida judge for an injunction against Florida State.

Well I doubt if that happens of course. In fact they just lifted the "indefinite" suspension on one of their top players....ha ha...just in time for ND?

Warchant.com has confirmed with a source close to the Florida State football program that linebacker Matthew Thomas' suspension has been lifted. As a result, the former five-star recruit will be eligible to play in this Saturday's top-five match-up against Notre Dame.

Thomas had been serving an "indefinite suspension" for violation of team rules. The suspension, which was announced in early September, lasted for FSU's first six games.

According to his coach Jameis will not miss a game.

ALLAHASSEE — Coach Jimbo Fisher said Florida State’s Jameis Winston has committed no crime and is adamant the quarterback will not miss any games this season due to an ongoing sexual assault investigation.

Fisher said Monday recent reports about the investigation haven’t revealed any new facts.

“This country is based off being innocent until proven guilty, not guilty till you’re proven innocent,” Fisher said. “There is no victim because there was no crime. We’re convicting a guy over things that are not true, based on evidence.

“There’s facts of the case and what the reports are. Public opinion wants to do what they do. They don’t get what they want. ... We believe in him, 100 percent.”

I assume that since Winston will undoubtedly play Saturday, all of you Notre Dame fans, would prefer that he will be playing, in lieu of a tainted win, if Notre Dame defeats the Seminoles?

To have a win over FSU would be viewed as an asterisk win, which would not be nearly as enjoyable.

Hey George read this one. Now we know that Jameis just signs those items out of the goodness of his heart.

FSU coach Jimbo Fisher is confident Jameis Winston won’t be suspended for more than 900 autographs he signed that were authenticated by a national dealer.

Fisher confirmed an ESPN report FSU reviewed the Winston autographs authenticated by James Spence Authentication, a dealer linked to suspended Georgia tailback Todd Gurley.

“Never taken a dime,” Fisher said of Winston Tuesday. “He’s signed thousands of things. That guys sits an hour-and-a-half before baseball game and signs, an hour-and-a-half after a baseball. There’s thousands of things out there with his name out there. He’s very accommodating to people.”

Georgia officials are reviewing whether Gurley accepted money exchange for autographs, according to ESPN.com, leading to his suspension for potentially violating his amateur status.

Fisher said he didn’t think Winston would face any NCAA-related issues for his autographs, regardless of how many appeared in sequential order – a sign that they may have been obtained by a dealer in exchange for payment.

“Feel very good,” Fisher said. “Talked to him. Talked to the owners of the company and different people, and from what I understand, we’ll see, but I’m not concerned.

“They’re still sorting things out. But [we’re] very confident right now.”

Fisher said he couldn’t compare Winston’s situation to Gurley’s suspension.

“I don’t know Todd Gurley’s . . . but from my understanding, everything is great,” Fisher said. “I don’t know the difference, I’m not familiar with Todd’s situation.”

The coach said he hopes he doesn’t have to limit how much his players autograph items in the future.

“It may be you have to eliminate them,” Fisher said. “It’s a shame, but you have to protect [your] kids. . . . We have to look at what we’re doing. . . . It’s a shame, as far as little kids, that their dream was to get an autograph by one of the great players. I’m not saying that’s true, but we may have to evaluate our process.”

Here's more Jameis from Fox Sports. This is a pretty heavy assessment of the college.

Florida State's administration has engaged in a pattern of conspiracy to ensure that Jameis Winston continues to play football for the Seminoles. When you really examine everything surrounding the Winston case, it's hard not to draw the conclusion that this is the most serious college football scandal since Penn State. Indeed, in many ways it's a more traditional conspiracy since everything Florida State has done has been designed to protect a single star player from the consequences of his off-field actions. At Penn State the conspiracy of silence was more general and less specific. Jerry Sandusky was protected because his association with the program would have had negative consequences if his misdeeds ever went public. Here Jameis Winston has been protected because he's a star football player.

Arguably the NCAA wasn't adequately equipped to handle a case of Penn State's magnitude. But the Jameis Winston case is a textbook example of what the NCAA was designed to prevent -- an athletic department running roughshod over all notions of fair play and decency, a star athlete protected from the legal consequences of his actions because he made it more likely a team would win on the field. Of course, the NCAA is so impotent right now that it offers no real check on a university's behavior. This isn't lack of institutional control, it's something even scarier, total institutional control. That's why FSU has operated with such flagrant disregard for truth, justice, and athletic accountability. So let's actually cut through all the crap and make a cogent case for a Florida State conspiracy.

Wow, there is some well deserved piling on FSU right now.

he embarrassment continues unabated at Florida State, a school that has put the need to win football games above all else, including an alleged rape, a Title IX violation and, pending an investigation, an NCAA rule that some schools still actually follow.

The amazingly still-eligible Jameis Winston is preparing for the big Notre Dame game Saturday as if all of that — as well as stealing crab legs from a Publix and soda from a Burger King, firing a BB gun at his apartment complex and making a spectacle of himself yelling a vulgar phrase while standing on a table in the student union — never happened.

We love the game. We love the players, too, even when they scare us.

Like the blue-chip defensive secondary leader who wrote his personal essay for an openly gay professor on the time in high school he gleefully commanded a posse to bash a girly fag near to death, caved the queer's face, and ruined his smile.

Or the hulking offensive star who brought a friend to help him corner a short, pretty instructor alone in her closet office and scare her within an inch of her life for telling the athletic department he was clowning in class.

Or the top offensive player who sought tutoring from me on a plagiarized paper while tweaking on uppers. Or the standout lineman who never showed for my lectures or turned much in except for a term paper written in someone else's voice, then magically disappeared from the class roll when I resisted the team handlers who pressed me not to fail him.

These guys are all starters at Florida State University. They're probably going to play for the national title; they're almost certainly going to go high in the NFL draft. None of them is older than 22, and they already have longer Wikipedia entries than anyone on the FSU faculty.

Winston is up to 2000 signed items available.

edit: Clearly FSU has decided that Winston will play on Saturday, barring some video of him taking cash while sitting at a table signing items. I expect that they will drag their feet and Jimbo will continue to tell us that Winston is a great kid and when he tells you he took no money he believes him.

I believe that they will back Jameis all the way through the season and pray he wins another title and leaves for the NFL.
