    I'll miss him! 8) 8)

    Besides Les Miles the other names I'm seeing are Tedford, Bellotti, Gruden, Rich Rodriquez, Mike Trgovac, and supposedly Urban Meyer has an out clause in his Fla Contract for Michigan and Ohio State.

    If Les Miles is their guy it's going to be ticklish with LSU, given they have a SECCG and a possible BCS Championship Game ahead of them. They will not allow Les to talk with UM till after the BCS+1 game. That means Mich will have to work back channels and/or have secret meetings with Les. If they don't do anything everybody will assume Miles to UM a done deal and that will be a distraction. Les might have to call Saban for pointers on how to lie to the press with a straight face. :)

    Terry,
    I think that is the delimna. If Miles is the one, if he answers that he is focused on LSU's remaining games the press will not give up. they will hound him and batter him with rumors and innuendo for a month. If he answers that yes he is going to UM, then he damages LSU's chances in the post season. Finally, if he answers no he is not going just to shut them up until the season is over then he is portrayed as a liar. The paparazzi almost forces these guys to lie, just so they can get on with the business at hand.

    Couldn't agree more, this is a no win situation for Les Miles. If he truly doesn't want the job and says so and doesn't go back on it then he'll come out looking good. That's the only senario he wins all the others put him in the liar category.

    Yea...

    <t>I feel bad for Les considering he has a clause in his contract that if he wins the National title he gets the same salary as the highest paid coach in the country so we are talking Saban money. Poor Les.</t>

    Check out Bobda's post under the topic, "Scott-It's our time of the year". It puts a whole different perspective on the situation.

    Michigan AD Bill Martin said he had a list of 20 candidates....I wonder if Jim Harbaugh is on that list?

    Jo Co,when your present 2-9 return to glory coach retires because of the need for his fifth quadruple bypass or stomach stapling, I'll post something gracious.

    <r>Bobda is my one and only favorite Wolvereasel. I am constantly amazed that you really are a Michigan man. You are my lone hope that a Michigan man is actually a good thing...<br/>
    <br/>
    Im thinking you're really a Badger implant..and your recent western defection is further proof of this <E>:)</E><br/>
    <br/>
    In related news...and maybe Bobda can confirm this.<br/>

    I've heard that Lloyd decided to go some weeks ago, but there is/was a power struggle between those (in Lloyd's camp) who want anyone but Miles.. and those who want Miles...</r>

    Oh boy, lectures about loyalty. I do recall how past posts bleating about ND's return to glory after Ty beat michigan morph into recent posts blaming recent toilet backs up in South Bend to some dastardly act Ty did eons ago.

    Yep, sing me those songs about loyalty

    Lloyd came to Michigan in pretty tough circumstances following Bo's retirement and Moeller's meltdown. He ended up with a record of 121-40, a winning percentage bettered only by Yost and Schembechler, 5 Big Ten titles, and a National Championship. Other elite programs during that same time period-Oklahoma, USC, Nebraska, UCLA, Alabama, and, of course, most notably Notre Dame, went or are going through historically miserable times. Michigan did not.

    This was probably Lloyd's worst year but if I compare his program the last decade with the coaching carosel at Notre Dame after Lou was run out of town, I am more than satisifed in how things turned out for us.

    Corey, Carr supposedly made his decison last year telling Bo that 07 was going to be his last year.

    I am not sure if there is a power struggle or not. Martin, Michigan A.D., seems to have the power to do what he wants to do although it is pretty clear that Carr has a close relationship with him. Carr's press conference conatained some pretty cryptic comments that some are interpreting as anti Miles with others interpreting the same commnets as Carr extending an olive brance to Miles.

    It looks to me as Miles is the clear front runner. But, Michigan is a very buttoned down program and I think there are concerns about Miles being a loose cannon whose graduation rates at Okie State were pretty poor. But, the angst over how Tresell has transformed the Buckeyes into the preminent team in the B 10 and a national power probably will override these concerns if it is felt that Miles would be able to head to head with Tressel. Miles is a great recruiter and has done well at OSU and LSU but I think some of your analysis about his coaching strategy is spot on.

    Very interesting. What was LC's public criticism of Urban Meyer that is referred to? If I knew about it then, I've forgotten. :?

    I don't recall any specifics but I do recall that after M's close lost to OSU there was a lot of talk of a rematch and a lot of bombs lobbed back and forth between Gator and Weasle fans.
    BTW I like Kelly. He did a great job at CMU. He knows recruiting in Michigan. I thought he would be the choice of MSU.

    Thanks, Gip. Re: Kelly, I don't know anything about him, but to my knowledge LC had no head coaching experience when he was elevated to the job. Where is Kelly now?

    Another person's take on Lloyd Carr... ( from BGI )

    So Long Coach Carr

    Weis expressed his deep respect and appreciation for Michigan coach Lloyd Carr Tuesday.

    Carr announced this weekend that he would resign his position following the bowl game in a career spanned 28 years on the Michigan staff and 13 years as the Wolverines head coach.

    “I tried calling him today. He was getting on a plane to go somewhere,” Weis said. “I really like Coach Carr.”

    Weis said he spoke at a Michigan coaches’ clinic when he was a member of the Patriots staff. The two coached against each other three times, with Carr winning twice, including the 38-0 drubbing this season.

    “ I have a great admiration for (Carr) both as a football coach and a person,” Weis said. “He's one of the good guys.”

    Thanks, Gip. He obviously is a good coach based on how Cincy has done this year.
