Obama Calls Egypt’s President Morsi To Thank Him For Helping “Calm” Situation In Gaza… Seemingly Unaware Morsi Threatened Israel Earlier In The Day…
    [IMG]
Not only did Morsi threaten Israel but they crowd he was speaking to started chanting about killing Jews . . . and Obama thanks him for it.

(Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama called Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi on Friday to commend the country’s efforts to help calm the situation in Israel and Gaza and underscored his hope of restoring stability there, the White House said.

Egypt’s prime minister, Hisham Kandil, has said Cairo is prepared to mediate a truce in the growing violence between Israel and Hamas, the Islamist group that runs the Gaza Strip. Egypt’s government is allied with Hamas, but is also party to a 1979 peace treaty with Israel.

    From earlier today:

Egypt will continue to support Gaza against continued attacks rom Israeli armed forces, President Mohamed Morsy reiterated on Friday.

“The price will be high if the aggression continues,” Morsy said after he performed Friday prayers in Fatma Al-Sharbatly Mosque in Cairo’s Fifth Settlement.

“Egypt is different from yesterday,” he added, referring to his predecessor ousted President Hosni Mubarak’s soft stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

“We assure them [Israel] that the price will be high for continued aggression, and [we tell them] you have to bear the responsibility,” Morsy continued.

During Morsy’s speech, worshipers chanted: “Khaybar, Khaybar, Oh Jews, the army of Mohamed will return,” in reference to a historical battle fought between Muslims and Jews in Saudi Arabia.

“I say to those on behalf of all the Egyptian people that Egypt today is different from yesterday, and Arabs today are different from yesterday. I say confidently that Egypt will not leave Gaza alone,” Morsy said.

Report: Rockets Fired from Egypt Hit Israel

    Home - by Cardigan - November 17, 2012 - 01:38 America/New_York - 8 Comments

    The Weekly Standard

Two major Israeli newspapers are reporting that rockets fired from Egypt have hit Israel.

“Terrorists in the Sinai Peninsula launched rockets into Israel Friday night,” reports the Jerusalem Post. “The rockets fell near an Israeli village on the southern border, causing some damage, but no injuries.”

The Israeli daily Haaretz reports, ”Rockets fired from direction of Egypt toward Eshkol Regional Council.”

It appears no damage was reported in connection with the rocket fire from Egypt. Earlier today, the Egyptian prime minister visited Gaza to express solidarity with the Palestinians there.

This new front comes a day after a rocket landed near Tel Aviv and on the same day Israel’s capital Jerusalem was the target of rocket fire. Those attacks were courtesy of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

    Unpopular opinion time.........

Let them drop the gloves in the Middle East.

They've done it a few times only to have those evil, Imperialist swine step in for either selfish (protecting commerce) or altruistic (UN begging for help) reasons... yet the problem just gets worse. The Arab/Persian/Muslim world just gets more aggressive, and the West winds up paying in human (and now military) lives as well as accepting all the blame.

This may be cold. This may be crass. I say, let them drop the gloves and see who is the last man/civilization standing. It's not like we've ever had to come in to save Israel. It's usually the Israelis who have them on the ropes.

Sometimes, people need to learn the futility of war to appreciate the peace that can be attained. Let them learn a lesson.

    re: Jewish vote

Actually The Republicans getting 31% of the Jewish vote signals a new trend and I believe that it's the largest percentage the GOP has ever gotten.. Entire ethnic groups usually don't switch sides suddenly. They leave one party for the other over a period of several elections. It takes time, but Jewish voters are beginning to realize that they've been replaced by others in the Democrat's "diversity" strategy. In Leftist thinking, they're just white people who're part of the problem...

Incessant Hamas Rocket Fire Continues To Pound Israel…
    [IMG]
    Via JPost:

Gazan terrorists fired volley after volley of rockets on Southern towns on Saturday, as red alert sirens wailed repeatedly, warning residents to flee for cover.

According to Israel Radio, over 60 rockets have fallen on the South on the fourth day of Operation Pillar of Defensive. The Iron Dome rocket defense system intercepted 15 of the rockets.

In the afternoon alone, four rockets landed in Ashdod, lightly injuring 4 people and causing damage to a house. Houses were also damaged in Eshkol and Be’er Tuviya. Six rockets hit Beersheba, and four others in the vicinity were shot down.

In total, Palestinians fired 700 rockets toward the Jewish state since the beginning of Operation Pillar of Defense on Wednesday, but only around 30 landed in built-up areas. Iron Dome intercepted 230 projectiles in total, maintaining a 90% intercept rate.Four IDF soldiers were lightly injured by shrapnel from a rocket in the Eshkol area.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz instructed the military on Saturday afternoon to increase the rate of strikes on terrorist cells, among them rocket launching squads.

The Israel Air Force struck 200 targets in the Gaza Strip overnight Friday, including 120 rocket launchers and 20 tunnels, bringing the total number of targets throughout Operation Pillar of Defense to 830.

Obama Says Arab Spring’s Islamization Of Middle East Has Not Made Israel’s Situation Tougher…
    [IMG]
    Does he really believe this?

(CNSNews.com) – President Obama on Sunday played down the notion that the conflict between Israel and Hamas has been complicated by “Arab spring” transitions in the Middle East.

Despite warnings from various Arab leaders and Turkey that Israel faces a new environment in the changing Middle East, Obama pointed out that conflict between Israelis and Palestinians had been going on long before what he described as “democratization in the region.” [...]

Asked in Bangkok whether the Arab spring “has made matters worse,” Obama demurred.

“Let’s just remember that the exact same situation arose just a couple of years ago, before the Arab spring,” he replied, alluding to the 22-day Israeli military operation against Hamas in Dec. 2008-Jan. 2009, also prompted by escalated rocket attacks.

“So I don’t think anybody would suggest somehow that it’s unique to democratization in the region that there’s a conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians. That’s been going on for several decades now.”

Israel Responds To UN Vote Recognizing “Palestine” By Approving Construction Of 3,000 New Homes In West Bank And Jerusalem – Update: Obama Admin Slams Israel…
    [IMG]
    Love it.

(Bloomberg News) — Israel approved the construction of 3,000 new homes in Jerusalem and the West Bank, less than 24 hours after the United Nations General Assembly voted to recognize Palestine as a non-member state.

Israel also intends to move forward on procedures necessary to plan further construction in a West Bank area between the Jewish settlement of Maaleh Adumim and Jerusalem, two government officials said, speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the matter. The Palestinian Authority, the UN and the U.S. consider all Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal.

The 193-member General Assembly yesterday voted 138-9, with 41 abstentions, for a resolution granting Palestinians a form of statehood on a par in the world body with the Vatican. The most significant ramification is that the new state may be able to join organizations such as the International Criminal Court.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today by text message that the nine countries that voted against recognition, including the U.S., took the “side of truth and the side of peace.” Netanyahu yesterday called the resolution “so one-sided, it doesn’t advance peace, it pushes it backward.”

“Continued settlement activity in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is contrary to international law” and “must cease,” UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement yesterday, according to the UN’s website.
