IRS Probe Expands To Groups Criticizing The Government, Teaching About Constitution…

Remember when the left called us nuts and conspiracy theorists for claiming the IRS was singling out conservative groups? Yeah, not so crazy now.

    Via WaPo:

At various points over the past two years, Internal Revenue Service officials targeted nonprofit groups that criticized the government and sought to educate Americans about the U.S. Constitution, according to documents in an audit conducted by the agency’s inspector general.

The documents, obtained by The Washington Post from a congressional aide with knowledge of the findings, show that on June 29, 2011, IRS staffers held a briefing with senior agency official Lois G. Lerner in which they described giving special attention to instances where “statements in the case file criticize how the country is being run.” Lerner, who oversees tax-exempt groups for the agency, raised objections and the agency revised its criteria a week later.

But six months later, the IRS applied a new political test to groups that applied for tax-exempt status as “social welfare” groups, the document says. On Jan. 15, 2012 the agency decided to target “political action type organizations involved in limiting/expanding Government, educating on the Constitution and Bill of Rights, social economic reform movement.,” according to the appendix in the IG report, which was requested by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and has yet to be released.

The new revelations are likely to intensify criticism of the IRS, which has been under fire since agency officials acknowledged they had deliberately targeted groups with “tea party” or “patriot” in their name for heightened scrutiny.

Now consider that these are the folks who will, in large measure, administer Obamacare.

In 2014 they will have full access to our medical records as well.

At this point most reasonable people should be scared shitless over what is going on in this country.

George, I don't think that they will have full access to your medical records.

I know those claims are flying around the internet, though.

Nonetheless I think that it is an absolute travesty to have them involved as an enforcement agency for health insurance policy. Justice Roberts should be ashamed of what this is becoming.

What's to stop them now? The feds can get anything they want.

I'm as opposed to Obamacare as anybody but don't think your medical records are "confidential" even before it.

Theoretically (yeah, I know what that's worth) all the IRS has access to is proof of insurance.

Well from what we have all gathered the last few years there seems to be nothing exclusive or private especially from our own government.
Tell me... Do any of you actually believe this anymore????

    Lol,

Meanwhile the nine month harvest of crops is almost finished and the art of capitalism where in this case investment is made, escape a few weather events and its grown and sold. In turn people eat or drink in this particular exercise. It could be a dentist offering his expertise to people needing his care or a teacher passing on his wisdom to willing minds hoping to cram his course in one of many requirements...

In any case we stay occupied about our daily endeavors and those lifted up with our votes whose job it is to protect the people and fulfill their wishes seem to accomplish nothing of the sort. But every year the knot tightens ever tighter and we lose the foundation our forefathers so eloquently laid out for us....

Where we come to the point where we are gasping for breathe... :?:

Justice Department secretly obtained AP phone records

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/05/13/justice-department-secretly-obtains-ap-phone-records/

So while the IRS was snoop bombing the records of political opponents, the Justice Department was obtaining phone records and emails of all the reporters in Washington?

Somewhere...out there...Dick Nixon is having the last laugh tonight.

IRS Boss Of Division Targeting Anti-Obama Groups Investigated Anti-Clinton Organizations In 1990s…
    [IMG]
    Via Washington Secrets:

Steven T. Miller, the acting IRS commissioner who managed the division that has admitted targeting anti-Obama Tea Party groups, was one of several agents who investigated anti-Clinton organizations including Judicial Watch during that Democrat’s administration, according to court documents and interviews.

Miller, who headed the IRS Services and Enforcement Division from 2009 until the end of last year, is named in court documents as part of a trio of Internal Revenue Service officials who allegedly characterized the 1998-2001 investigation of Judicial Watch as politically motivated.

According to court papers, one agent in the case reportedly told the legal watchdog group, “What do you expect when you sue the president?” Miller reportedly added that the Judicial Watch audit, coming after the group sent the White House a lengthy Freedom of Information Act request, “had created at least the appearance of a problem.”

BREAKING: IRS Officials In Washington Were Involved In The Targeting Of Conservative Groups…
    [IMG]
Time for the GOP to go on the warpath.

    Via WaPo:

Internal Revenue Service officials in Washington and at least two other offices were involved in the targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, making clear the effort reached well beyond the branch in Cincinnati that was initially blamed, according to documents obtained by The Washington Post.

IRS officials at the agency’s Washington headquarters sent queries to conservative groups asking about their donors and other aspects of their operations, while officials in the El Monte and Laguna Niguel offices in California sent similar questionnaires to tea party-affiliated groups.

IRS employees in Cincinnati also told conservatives seeking the status of “social welfare” groups that a task force in Washington was overseeing their applications, according to interviews with the activists.

Lois G. Lerner, who oversees tax-exempt groups for the IRS, told reporters on Friday the “absolutely inappropriate” actions were undertaken by “front-line people” working in Cincinnati to target groups with “tea party,” “patriot” or “9/12” in their names.

In one instance, however, Ron Bell, an IRS employee, informed an attorney representing a conservative group focused on voter fraud that the application was under review in Washington. On several other occasions, IRS officials in D.C. and California sent detailed questionaires to conservative groups asking more than a dozen questions about their voter outreach and other activities, according to the documents.

“For the IRS to say it was some low-level group in Cincinnati is simply false,” said Cleta Mitchell, a partner in the law firm Foley & Lardner LLP who sought to communicate with IRS headquarters about the delay in granting tax-exempt status to True the Vote.

For every one of these "scandals" we're getting the same story "The White House had no knowledge of ......(fill in the blank.) I keep thinking back to the Abu Ghraib story that was front page on the New York Times for aproximately 5 weeks. Of course Bush was responsible for the actions of the prison guards. Now of course, Obama isn't responsible for the IRS, the DOJ or the State Dept. Unbelievable.

IRS “Special Unit” Targeted Pro-Israel Groups…
    [IMG]
The gestapo? More on this story.

    Via Politico:

The same Internal Revenue Service office that singled out Tea Party groups for extra scrutiny also challenged Israel-related organizations, at least one of which filed suit over the agency’s handling of its application for tax-exempt status.

The trouble for the Israel-focused groups seems to have had different origins than that experienced by conservative groups, but at times the effort seems to have been equally ham-handed.

A leader of one of the organizations involved, Lori Lowenthal Marcus of Z Street, said Monday that she was convinced the added attention her group got was no accident.

“I can’t believe it was just about Z Street, because it’s a tiny organization,” Lowenthal Marcus said of the group, which has been critical of President Barack Obama for being too cozy with left-leaning Jewish groups like J Street and with pro-Palestinian entities.

Z Street filed a lawsuit against the IRS in 2010 alleging that one of its attorneys were told its application for tax exemption was delayed and sent to a “special unit…to determine whether the organization’s activities contradict the Administration’s public policies.”

The suit was filed in federal court in Pennsylvania and later transferred to DC. A judge in Washington has set a hearing on the case for July 2.

Z Street had applied for the 501 (c) (3) status applied to most charities, allowing for tax deductible donations.

Most of the tea party groups known to have come under scrutiny applied for 501 (c) (4) status, which allows advocacy groups to avoid federal taxes on their operations but doesn’t render donations to the groups tax deductible.

if you guys haven't watched the Jon Stewart video, I'd highly recommend doing so. He's a hardcore Democrat and I think he pretty much sums up the emotions of most non-blind Democrats at this moment.

funny enough, they turn to the Daily Show for their news. Stewart has always downplayed this, but it's true. He will publicly say it from the mountain top that you shouldn't turn to him for the news because it's parody with a hint of serious political cynicism... every now and then he has 'real' moments and that's what keeps the younger generation viewing him as a real news source.

That was a real moment and I could not echo his sentiment more..

Motherfuck#r.....This isn't a blow job. This isn't the typical hyperbole laden political attacks. This is real big brother, fascist dictator ******** and everyone involved has gotta go on the redeye Dick Nixon express... I don't think people realize just how serious this is and whenever I think about it... just motherfuck#r... it's all I can say.
