Well I thought since today Charlie got his first commit for the Class of 2007 in a DE prospect from North Carolina. Kerry Neal a 6'3" 225 lb kid who can also play TE and LB. The defensive staff all loved his film, and they went to Charlie and he watched the film at 5:30 AM (got to love his work ethic) and called the kids coach and made the offer. By 10:30 the kid accepted. He's never even been to Notre Dame for a visit. Here's a blurb from Lemming (South Bend Trib article) on how the recruiting effort for the Irish is going this year. Looks like Charlie is going to go after a lot of Fla recruits this year. He was 3-0 vs Urban last year, I hope we can continue that trend this year. Charlie needs to get Fla and Texas Kids...oh yeah and a couple of Calif ornia kids as well, but they seem harder to drag away from the sun/sand/surf!
Not sure how the numbers stack up to 3-0 vs. Meyer because I am quite certain that there are 15 kids plus in Urban's class that ND would love to have.
As far as I know there were 3 kids that ND recruited who the Gators were also recruiting and Charlie got them all. Sam Young, Dan Wenger, Toryan Smith. I would agree that there were players that the Gators signed that we'd love to have had, but that we didn't recruit in the first place. Just like I'm sure we have players at ND that the Gators would love to have but you didn't recruit. Terry ps, I don't expect to win all battles with UF over players in the future...but it would be nice!
Both of these teams are legitimate contenders for the NC in 2006. If Charlie can avoid the sophomore jinx and put together back to back top five recruiting classes then I think the Irish are all the way back. As Terry pointed out in his Lemming anecdote, Weis is a tireless recruiter.

I have the same questions, I've seen his weight go up everytime I read a new article. I think he started at 215 and is now up to 228. Terry
