At the Stetson four-team tournament in Florida:

After dropping the first two games of the series to Stetson and Iowa, things didn’t figure to get much better against highly regarded Nebraska. Even after the Irish struck for five runs in the top of the first inning, one just had to hearken back to Friday night when the Irish put up four runs in the opening frame only to lose 5-4 to get that “here we go again” feeling.

Sure enough, after going scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd innings, the Irish took the field for the bottom of the 3rd with a 5-1 and defense once again went awry. The infield accounted for three errors, leading to four unearned runs and a 5-5 game when the inning finally ended.

Then, the pattern was broken and the team showed tremendous grit and determination in scoring the next 11 runs. Suddenly, the Notre Dame lineup came up with timely hitting and aggressive base running and walked off the field with a 16-6 victory in a game called after 7 innings due to a curfew necessitated by travel arrangements for both schools.
