So anybody going to be standing in line to buy one of them. While it's hardly revolutionary, from everything I've read it's a big improvement over the previous versions. Really getting a lot of kudos for the screen.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, which has a lot of nice features and I paid for the Verizon 4G-LTE connection for it...so I'm pretty much stuck for 2 years, but if I just had the wifi version I think I'd dump it for the new iPad.

    Terry,

I'm considering a Galaxy Tab, a Kindle Fire, or a B&N Nook color. My Android phone (Sprint) can serve as a hotspot for $30-35/month with no fixed commitment, so I don't need the stand-alone internet connection. Please keep in mind that I am techno ignorant. Any thoughts based on your personal experience?

Well I can tell you my Samsung is very nice, but that new Apple is better.

I don't know much about the fire, except that it's really cheap so much so that if you don't like it you can dump it and not be hurt financially very much.

I didn't know you could do the hotspot without the contract. I pay 30/m for 2G of data from Verizon whether I use it or not. I would rather have what you have.

Sid, I bought the Kindle Fire. For the most part, I am happy with it as all I use it for is reading books and surfing online. But, its browser is tempermental and the battery life is short.

We ended having Time Warner add on a router to our interent service to provide us Wi Fi and am geting tempted to buy an iPad without 3 or 4G since Apple still seems the gold standard for tablets and has a much wider variety of applications than what is avilable on the Fire.

Bobda I think the iPad3 is a good choice. I know for the most part when you are traveling wifi is mostly easy to connect to for free at the hotel or other places. I'm even thinking of opening a node on my office wifi network to allow patients in the waiting room access.

I got the 4G just for belt/suspenders. It actually was nice when my internet service went out for about a week at the house, I could use the tablet to keep up with the skybox.

    I have the iPad2 with 3G. I don't expect to upgrade.

Actually I only used the 3G on vacation last summer and will probably do the same this year.
