Anybody suprised at Obama and Huckabee taking the lead? Oprah is onboard with Obama, I'll bet that is killing Hillary. I saw a clip of one of his speeches with Oprah on podium with him, wow he really kissed her butt embarassingly IMHO. I would wonder at this point if he's just a hand puppet for Oprah. Huckabee is finding out what being in front causes...intense scrutiny of everything you have ever said and done. The HIV deal probably won't hurt him, even though those comments in 1992 certainly didn't reflect the thinking of any medical epidemiologist....ie put HIV positive people in quaranteen. So when he says he wouldn't take that position now it sounds hollow to me. Also his paroling of the rapist is going to Willie Horton him. I think Huckabee is a flash, Obama might really be inching ahead of Hillary.
I don't think so. He's a smart guy and knows how much he needs her to court the black vote as well as female vote of any color. He's probably just giddy over her show of support. Speaking as a moderate-to-conservative Democrat, I hope he overtakes her......not because I necessarily would vote for him, but because I just wish she would go poof sooner rather than later.
I wondering if he has been planning on bringing in Oprah at this point all along or if he thought he couldn't get ahead of Hillary without her publically endorsing him. Although I think its been common knowledge that Obama was who Oprah supported she was just trying to publically stay neutral. What do you think of Huckabee? The recent revelations along with his position on Creationism are probably too much for him to overcome in any general election, I think. I'm surprised he's doing so well in Iowa though, is Iowa a big fundamentalist state?
I really don't know anything about him except what I'm reading leading up to the caucuses. What I'm reading tells me that he may win in Iowa, but he's not a serious candidate. Too much baggage from the 90s that will drag him down in 2008. I agree with your flash in the pan description.
If a Democrat wants to win <t>the big dance, he's got to split the South.<br/> <br/> I don't see Obama doing that. Oprah may help, but it would take an incredible pro-Obama turnout in Georgia, Tennessee and perhaps Arkansas to have a legit run.<br/> <br/> Until they figure out how to crack the south, they are doomed.</t>
