Milo Hamilton, the Astro's play by play man, was the Braves play by play man when Hank Aaron hit his 714th homerun. What are the chances that he calls Bonds 714th. The really big irony is that he only calls home games and is semi-retired. Of course the Giants annoucner will get the offical call in the history books. But still it's pretty odd. Also odd that Giants pounded the Astro's 10-1 yesterday and Bonds doesn't get the dinger.

    Milo..

<t>As you know Terry Milo is way past his time and I cannot listen to the guy. My Cards were off yesterday and in between unpacking boxes from a move I caught the game on the tube and proudly pulled against Baroid every at bat. What an ugly baseball game.</t>

I listened to about 3 innings if the game tonight on XM radio on my way back home from Indy. Another ugly game but I enjoyed hearing Bonds get plunked. I like Milo Hamilton. He has a lively voice that keeps you in the game. If you don't think he is good, try listening to some other teams' announcers like I have the past month via XM. Thumbs down on the Pittsburgh guy. Haven't heard Vin Scully yet. Looking forward to it.

Did you see the films of Bonds getting plunked by Stros pitcher Russ Springer? They have a little history, those two. Bonds three lifetime at-bats against him go like this: HR, HBP, HBP. Oooops!

This time around, one pitch went BEHIND Bonds, the next pitch was thrown at his feet and made him dance out of the way. (Wild West gun fighter shoots at the boots yelling "Dance partner! Dance!") Another inside pitch went for a strike, when it hit the handle of Bonds bat as he ducked for cover. Finally, to leave no doubt and to make a statement for the ages that this punk would not catch Ruth on his watch, Springer plunked him squarely in the middle of the back, getting both himself and his manager ejected...

Glory be to God! I've never felt so proud to be a pitcher in me whole miserable life! I almost cried! I haven't seen anything like it since Drysdale. John McGraw would have loved it. It was like watching a great artist creating a masterpiece before our very eyes! After the game, Springer stayed in character with reporters, telling them, "I just came inside and one got away from me. Its unfortunate, but its part of the game." WhoooooHaaaaa! Aaooooooga! It was unfortunate that he almost hit him with the other half-dozen pitches too! It was unfortunate that this was the second consecutive at-bat that he had struck Mr. Bonds with the ball after he hit a HR. It was all a real, old-fashioned, ring-tailed, coinky-dinky that this entire, "unfortunate" mess happened just as Bonds was standing on the edge of a great personal achievement...

I guess he'll just have to make history somewhere else...eh?

Geez I'm just glad to see those bums leave town. What was the combined score of this mismatch? 33-3 or something like that? Yikes. Roger, Roger, Come in Roger! :(
