Birmingham's mayor just announced they will be building a domed stadium in Birmingham.

I wonder how long it will take for them to make a run at a CUSA or SEC title game bid?

Must have gotten a big Stimulus Check from Obama. With only UAB and maybe a bowl game/championship game I wonder what revenue stream will be supporting this stadium.

Tradition of SECCG in Atlanta is probably too strong to get the SEC to move the game to another venue.

You have MLS and other items you can use for money.

You also forget the SEC HQ is going to be across the street.

The SECCG use to be in Birmingham. It is in Atlanta because B'ham wouldn't get off their arse and build a new stadium.

We'll see how this is going to play out. Jefferson County is going to be in debt for the next 3 generations due to a lawsuit they lost recently.. The money will have to come from the city and private investors.

Also, I don't believe they could get the Iron Bowl back... but if they build a new super dome facility, who knows.. Auburn and Tuscaloosa are making a bunch of money off hosting the Iron Bowl now.
