Interesting interview by Dan Dakich with Purdue Coach Matt Painter regarding the Xavier-Cincy fight, coaching perspective, referees needing to keep control, etc. (We had played Xavier earlier in the week) It's a little long (14 min.) I think it's the second interview down the list if you use this link; http://www.1070thefan.com/dakich/podcast.aspx
 I think Painter has it right. Coaches and referees have to think safety first: it's their responsibility. It's hard to do, but they must. Cincy and Xavier have always worried me, because they don't really graduate any of these kids. It sure looks like they're recruiting marginal thugs who're also good basketball players and the problem begins right there.
I haven't listened to it but I can tell you that Xavier/UC basketball is a very intense rivalry that used to favor UC but in the last 10 years has tipped heavily towards Xavier. Also since my brother is heavily involved with the Xavier Ath Dept, I can tell you that Xavier takes academics almost as seriously as ND. In fact their AD Mike Bobinski is a ND graduate and a ND letterman. UC is of course well known for it's lack of graduates of it's basketball program. I think when Huggins was there they didn't graduate a single player during his time.
