I thought this was interesting. I don't remember what happened in the Wisconsin game though. I assume he took his foot off the pedal. Always a fine line between that and running up the score. Lots of other good stuff. Urban Meyer
He gets it. He knows what his job is. They despise him on the ND boards; he is the antichrist. I am always defending him. The real problem Irish fans have with Meyer is that he said no to them.
I think next years record for the Buckeyes will determine his future here in Columbus. Some real progress is needed, or the fans will be screaming. For some reason Buckeye fans are not very patient. Gene Smith, AD has already said his contract will not be reworked until some elite performances have been achieved.
24-2...yeah that's not elite! I guess like all fan bases the focus is on the 0-2 finish to the season.
Amazing isn't it Terry! Poor Thad Matta's head is on the block for losing to Dayton! He is the best coach we have had since Fred Taylor.
Michigan State last year had a national championship quality defense and I think the veracity of that defense caught OSU off guard. That was the only thing keeping Ohio State from upsetting FSU for the NC in my opinion. Throw away the Clemson loss.... Meyer doesn't have the same game face on for consolation bowls as he would have had for a shot at the title.
Meyer can win bowls..... UF had great preparation and execution vs. Joe Pa and Penn State in his last game at the Outback Bowl back in Jan. 2010. But that was a special kind of opportunity. I suspect now with his health issues that he will back off the intensity for regular bowls if the Buckeyes were to miss the playoffs. That may not suit Buckeye fans in the long run.... but then again maybe OSU is in the 4 team race at the end and I would then be a Buckeye believer with Meyer in playoff mode.
You know wins and losses aren't always entirely about Urban, Dave. The way you talk about him you'd think he was a golfer...who only puts his game face on for the majors. The coach's game face only goes so far...
True Stu.... but for instance Nick Saban has absolutely been the face of Alabama in my opinion. Both in terms of game day planning for the big title game and in wratcheting up the intensity level and preparation for those kinds of games it's been about Saban as much as it has been about his players. I think Meyer... pre-health issues was that same kind of coach. I think he still can be for Ohio State.
What is his two year record in Columbus? 24-2 ? And one of those years he was on probation from Tressel.
