Cuban has always been a cock-sucker... all he's done is confirm it's a Chinese cock.
(Please excuse my vulgarity... but honestly I'd say that to his face.)

Speaking of in the Heart of Frozen Texas I am alive and kicking. Power comes and goes and I have no running water, filled a bath tub and have plenty of bottled water and other drinks. Peanut Butter and Jelly and Tuna sandwiches when power is out and quick microwave something when it's on. Cell service has beens spotty, I can get text messages out but when I call somebody I get connected and I hear them saying are you there Terry, but they can't hear my replies. When power is off I'd hoped the smartphone internet would be a godsend, but it's been pretty bad. Kind of like when you go to a big football game and there are so many people trying to access the towers you have to get luck to get a connection.

Of course no work this week. I worry that the power grid and all will not be back in shape for next week to be a return to normal even though temps will return to normal. I did all the dripping of faucets and the water pressure kept going down and down that my drips stopped dripping. I don't know if it's frozen pipes or just they shut off my water, but I went ahead and cut the water off to the house so that if I'm going to have a pipe burst it will just be the water already in the system. I'm praying that I get luck and don't have a burst pipe. Keeping all the outlets open so if it starts to melt there is somewhere for it to go.

Going to be a lot of commissions looking into this fiasco and I expect a report in several years from now...lots of political capital will be used by democrats on the Republican Govenor....maybe even well deserved.

Hang in there Terry. My grandson and his family have moved from their house to a condo owned by his mother in law. Not sure just where it's at but apparently better than in Cady.

Terry, I've been wondering how you're doing, but I guess I didn't realize how pervasive the problem is. Hang in there. I know. Easy for me to say. I mean it.

If you can just hang in there until 2050, Joe says wind and solar will save you.

Isn't part of the problem in Texas that the cold weather shut down the windmills?

Solar and wind are great but unless there is proper planning for how things are going to be handled when weather conditions drastically reduce the production from those sources then these kind of events will continue to happen.

Here's an article discussing what went wrong in Texas with the power grid.

EXPLAINER: Why the power grid failed in Texas and beyond

I think we have to be careful to not do what the left is so good at doing...politicizing a disaster rather than trying to look at the multifaceted reasons it happened.

Some conservatives are trying to push this as a knock on renewable energy sources..."the wind turbines froze and failed". I am a fan of wind and solar but believe it is a mistake to throw money at it (some incentives and subsidies are ok if within reason) before it is ready (if it works the private industry will develop it...who'd a thunk that private companies would be launching astronauts to the space station and have plans for Mars?)

As your article points out, this was not a "failure of wind turbines". For one thing the conscious decision was made to NOT put available deicing systems on those turbines. A conservative meme/picture is going around claiming to show a helicopter "spraying deicing chemicals on a tower...but that pic was taken in Sweden a couple of years ago an it was just spraying hot water (according to what I read).

As your article points out...the entire grid (including the 77% of the power that is generated by coal and gas in Texas) failed. They just. didn't. plan. for. this. cold. snap. The article even points out that there have been similar cold snaps before (but I bet that was before so much demand for heat would be generated due to population growth.)

Anyway just my thoughts...the main one being to resist scoring political points at the cost of real analysis of the problem (something both sides are good at).

Agree Stu and I am in the same boat with you with solar and wind.

I think your thoughts pretty much cover the situation. I believe in solar and wind but they also have to have some backup plan when not available, and for sure it was a major mistake to not use deicing systems on the turbines. I kind of imagine they will have those systems in the future.

    Great thoughts on your part.

Not a good look for a senator of a state suffering from statewide power outages during freezing weather.
