we got our asses kicked last night by a better football team. Kudos Big Blow err I mean blue. But I wanted to start a subject last night, but fell asleep, and I saw Larry touched on it in another post. We don't have much depth and we really dont have a lot of talent. When Charlie won last year, John Saunders and just about every hack at ESPN was quick to tell you that these were 'Ty's guys' No one was making that remark while Ohio State was running wild over us. No one dare to mention Ty when Michigan was scampering into the end zone untouched. If it is not so much that our 'Evil Robot Genius' coach is all that, but rather that Ty brought great players into the system, then why are we playing so many true freshman? Why isn't anyone talking about the great turnaround at Washington? (I can't believe I just use to words 'turnaround' or even rebuild in terms of a Washington program that has been great/good for damn near every year of my life on this planet). Where are the boo birds when we are down? I dont mind taking a kick to the groin on days like today, just make sure you get the right nut.
The facts are that Ty had one good recruiting class and that was it, his other classes were small and unbalenced. The foundation of all great football teams are the lines, one year Ty only got 1 OL on signing day...that was disgracefull. Charlie Weis has done a pretty damn good job of turning the program around, I have no doubt that with Ty at the helm last year would have been another 6-5 or 7-4 or 5-6 type of season another mediocre recruiting class. If he'd have lasted 5 years we'd have full transformed ourseleves into Stanford Football. Charlie has virtually no Jr. Class to work with thanks to Ty's efforts. Next year we will be extremely young at all positions. It will take Charlie 2 more years to get us back to where we have talented depth at most positions. Terry
