Sooner or later in situations like this, a stat will come out that is so damning that it becomes an albatross around the neck of the coach. ESPN just ran this: The last 10 seasons, in college football, teams who have held their opponents under 120 yards are 147-2. Those 2 losses are both Will Muschamp Florida teams, including the blowout loss to Missouri. Toss in his incredibly rude sideline interview behavior in post-game interviews and short comings against local rivals, I think the ship has sailed and there's nothing that can save him. Sorry Gators, and I actually mean that, it sucks when you're in this position.
Nothing to be sorry about Corey. While I respect the man personally he is in an impossible situation now. The Gators will have a new coach next season, the only question is who?
Not a good time to be a Gator, but I agree he is dead in the water. How soon Foley reacts is now the question. This is a prime example of how some things just do not work out for whatever reason. Disappointing for all and no ready fix.
I don't know if you guys caught this, but in this week's Blatant Homerism article by Spencer Hall, he posted the following image with the caption below. http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2014/10/19/7001741/blatant-homerism-mizzou
Corey, I'm not going there with that guys criticism. I did something that I have never done before and left in the third quarter when it was 28-0. By the time we got to the car it was 42-0. Joining the band for the singing of the Alma Mater is not a long time tradition and was started with Urban Meyer if I remember correctly. I can certainly understand how the players just weren't up to it yesterday and am not going to criticize them or Muschamp for that. As to a new coach, it certainly isn't going to be Meyer AJ and I don't believe it's going to be Mullen either. Rich Rod is a name I have heard more than once. I feel for Muschamp and think he could have saved his job by being quicker to bench Driskel. However I think it is all moot now and that the search is on.
"The last 10 seasons, in college football, teams who have held their opponents under 120 yards are 147-2" And Muschamp's teams have the two losses? One of these days I think the truth will come out how Muschamp must micro manage the side of the team he obviously knows zilch about.... the offense. He'll make someone a damn fine defensive coordinator.... very soon. Maybe Brian Kelly could use a guy like that?
Nah. I'll keep Uncle Rico. I like the way he's handling things at the moment. And yup, those 2 losers are Muschamp Florida teams.. Missouri this past weekend and Florida State (maybe 2 years ago?)
I was at that FSU game..... absolutely maddening. Give Spurrier a defensive effort like that and he will clean your clock. Chump is the worst offensive coach in America..... ever. And yet he can't keep his hands off the offense.
Check out these lows of lows under Will Muschamp for Florida: One of the biggest issues for Muschamp has been the infrequent highs and numerous, numbing lows during his tenure. • No bowl last year for the first time since 1990. • A losing record for the first time since 1979. • A first-ever loss to a FCS team. • Defense allowed most yards in school history in a game (Alabama). • First coach to lose back-to-back Homecoming games since 1946. • Only coach in last 10 years to lose a game when allowing 120 yards or fewer (twice ) It's been painful folks..... just painful.
Sounds like a Charlie Weis resume. Charlie was a ND guy, I have no doubt he tried hard. But he's proven he's not a good HC, might be a good Coord but he's not a HC.
I must be slipping, first Bobda has to explain Rooty Birds to me and now I have no clue what the barrell symbolizes. Now that AJ is a college graduate he's way too deep for me!
Here's a Naval explanation Doc!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "It's your turn in the barrel" is an expression that means it's your turn to do something difficult, challenging, hard, disagreeable, or to suffer an unpleasant experience. There are many variations on the age-old story, but most of them have the same concept. The Urban Dictionary comes close to the best explanation of the origin of the expression. The phrase is taken from a popular joke that involves an all male crew. It could be miners, soldiers, sailors, prisoners, or some other group that spends a long time together away from women. The story is about a new Navy recruit who is being given a tour of the vessel he will be manning for the next twelve months. The ship's captain points out the crew quarters, the mess hall, and other places on the ship. The new recruit begins to think and asks the captain a question that has been bothering him. "Sir, since we will be away at sea for a long period of time, what happens about our sexual needs?" "Oh" says the captain, "Go to the back of where the cargo is being held and you will see a barrel with a hole. Give it a go. It'll be the best you ever had!" Bewildered, the recruit goes to where the cargo was been held and finds a barrel just as the captain had said. The recruit has sex with the barrel and returns to the captain. Full of joy, he says, "You're right. It's the best I've ever had. I want to do it every day!" The captain replies, "Well you can use it every day except Thursdays." The bewildered recruit asks, "Sir, why not Thursdays?" Without hesitating the captain says, "Because Thursday is your turn in the barrel!" Whenever you are faced with an unpleasant situation, remember you are just one of many who have done what you have to do. Others have done it and lived and so will you. Today just might be "your turn in the barrel."
AJ, Given the number of Domers on this board, it might be a good idea for all Big Ten posters to add explanatory footnotes to their jokes so that everyone is provided the opportunity to understand the joke.
