I screwed up and watched the Alabama A Day game. The offense especially the passing game looked like crap. The kicking game looked like crap. I hope the defense comes through because it looks like we will not be scoring quickly. Running game may be okay, that depends on the offensive line and it was hard to tell how they were doing. :(

You do have a QB, Corker, arriving from FSU after graduation and from what I hear he will likely be your starter.

I think that was the influence of Tenn Vol grad Peyton Mannings covert visit to the Alabama Spring Practice!! He said it was to share knowledge....Ha! What do you think the chances are of a Tenn Vol sharing knowledge with the Tide!

    Bill,
I hope you are right but kind of like Kiffin, what has Coker ever really done.

    Terry,
You're right, it's probably a Fulmer plot!

I take great satisfaction in reading that statement.

Hey Kp..... maybe Bammer will only beat UF 20-0 instead of 40-0.... :(

We'll see. Our passing game really looked rough. Right now I would be satisfied with a 7-0 win. I don't think it will 3-0 because our kicking game looks as bad as our passing game. :?

Florida actually probably will be improved this year barring the same kind of major injuries that impacted the team severely last season.

If they do stay healthy they most likely will be trouble for a couple of teams that on paper right now look like their superior.

That said.... the schedule is absolutely daunting.

    At Bama.... at FSU.... 0-2.

LSU, SC and Mo in Gainesville are all more than capable and probably favored to hang a loss on the Gators plus Georgia has a lot of returning players and Muschamp just seems to have zilch mojo vs. his alma mater in a rivalry that could be his ticket out of Gainesville with an ugly November loss giving him an 0-4 record vs. a team that UF has dominated since Spurrier.

Then there are games at Vandy and Tenn..... which could both easily be Ls.

UF could be much improved and still wind up 7-5.... they could be slightly improved and be 5-7.

Either of those records with ugly losses to rivals could send good ole Will hunting....... for a new job.

There has to be talk over on Gator country about firing Muschamp after this season and who they want to bring in as the next coach. Who are the top 5 candidates to replace Muschamp?

There are a lot of Chump haters over in the Gator nation that's for sure.

However.... with a large degree of fans.... like myself.... the unusual rash of season ending injuries last year ( 13 )..... combined with the fact that many of those players are coming back and essentially playing for the first time since they went 11-1 in 2012 gives rise to a position of wait-and-see if he can resurrect his program.

My gut feeling is that the team will be decidedly better.... but it's a brutal schedule not navigable for anyone but the elite teams in the country....
of which I do not think his team is one.

He does put together elite defenses and he seems to be hands off Roper.... for the moment.

If Driskell, Matt Jones and Andre Debose can play lights out like their potential, if Roper's downfield passing game can open up running lanes for Fred Taylor's son Kelvin and the offense in general can produce like the defense this team will be a tough out.

But it needs luck in the injury dept. and that is always uncertain and also Roper needs to be his own man..... not just a puppet of Muschamp

A competitively performed 8-4 season with a win over either Georgia or FSU will allow Muschamp to stay.

7-5 with some blowout losses plus 0-2 vs. Ga and FSU and he is long gone.

So the question remains...if he's long gone who do you go after?

Gruden? Every other fan base still wants Gruden it seems.

Right now I'm struggling to think of the overachievers at lesser schools that might be candidates. Franklin would have been a great hire, he knows the SEC, so would Charlie Strong as a former Gator DCoord, but it's too late for any of those guys. I wonder if Foley would take another chance on a DCoord if that DCoord is Smart from Alabama?

Would you be interested in Dantonio, he's certainly overachieved at MSU. That guy at Wisconsin is a rising star, but he's only been there a year but did an excellent job at Utah State before that.

    Agreed on those.

Dantonio looks like a carbon copy of Muschamp's style.... not sure Foley goes for that.

Gruden? I think he wants a pro job if any.

The lack of sure fire candidates helps Muskrat keep his job..... that and the coaching go-round up in Knoxville over the last few seasons. Flipping coaches doesn't necessarily get you where you want to be.

    Maybe Kp is right:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20140417/alabama-crimson-tide-nick-saban-spring-practice/

Maybe he is right.... right now..... but it seems likely Saban has noticed the problem and seems to be addressing it strongly.

I vote Saban fixes whatever ails 'em.....

This is going to be the year for my Buckeyes. We will be much improved on defense. Only lost four players on the offensive line. We have a terrific coach. There is always hope in Columbus at the beginning of every season.

Hey kp, good news!! Alabama has joined Texas and Notre Dame in the big time media rights market!! Going to ink a big time deal worth a ton of money. I guess even though you are in a conference you won't have to share it with your conference brothers or Auburn!! Watch out though some schools might be mad at you for the big dollars and leave the conference ...I won't speculate who that might be though, but as a hint they have done it before!!

Terry, there was a significant contingent of Gator fans who wanted Champ gone and it wouldn't take much to bring them out of the woodwork.

However the majority of fans understand the injuries and are happy with the Offensive Coordinator hire signaling the intent to a more up tempo offense.

However like I said above it wouldn't take much to bring a bunch of the discontent out again.

As to who is eyed, I have not heard much discussion of that. Charlie Strong would have been a strong candidate, but someone else got him. :)

I don't think you will see any rumors about Saban or Meyer coming to Florida. :)
