Some of you saw this on Facebook where I think I met the worst doctor in the United States and IT has a name... Dr Shaw: The power hungry fool that was going to send my insulin pump fack to the manufacturer rather than get me started because I didn't have six weeks to stay in Austin. My new doctor set me up the first day with my data from previous months. My data must have been perfect, unlike the wicked witch Shaw.

In the short time I have been on an insulin pump, my BG levels are better and more consistently controlled than they have ever been. I think the difference is the constant feed through the day rather than the heavy basal dose twice each day. I thank my lucky stars that Cindy found a reasonable doctor that treats me like I have a little common sense to get this therapy started. I just pity the patients that are still going to Shaw.

One more week in Xi'an. I fly back on the 17th... Cattle car class on China Eastern from Xi'an to Shanghai (2 hours), Business class on American from Shanghai to Chicago (14.5 hours), and 1st class on American from Chicago to Austin (2.5 hours).

I have been working one hour a day longer with the class each day to finish in 9 days rather than 10. I have a class of Israelis and one takes his religion very seriously. Shabbot is the term for the seventh day in Judaism. Travel on Friday a few minutes before sunset is against their belief. I agreed to work longer hours with the class each day so that they could fly out on Thursday evening and be home before sunset on Friday.

I can't, or choose not to fly back a day early because of the cost to my company to change the tickets and the possibility of not being able to get the upgrades to business and 1st in short notice. Although I am Executive Platinum, other EP's would have had their upgrade requests in before I did for the Friday flight.

Actually, i was amazed to see a Christmas Tree in the hotel lobby... and yes, it is a Christmas tree complete with a Merry Christmas banner on the arch above the elevator hall.

I thought that I had retired from the Fire Department. I am going in to work today to put out more fires than I can remember. Chinese New Year coming up and my manager is trying to hold classes in a closed building. Never a dull moment around here.
