There is a rumor that the NCAA may bring back to the 220/225lb weight class and if they do, that would be a boon for Carson. He's already the #2 heavyweight, but he's carrying extra weight that he could shed easily. He normally wrestles at 220, so we have our fingers crossed there.
LOL. The Dodgers use it. Most of the team lost weight and got quicker except for Bellinger who wanted to gain weight. He drinks a gallon of milk per day and started challenging Babe Ruth. Remember, he only hit one HR in Little League. It was my dentist who introduced me to this diet. Most grown men aren't able to process dairy products very well and shouldn't drink milk at all. I tried going without milk or butter 20 years ago and I lost nearly 60lbs in six weeks! I'm probably diabetic, but since I never go to a doctor I'll never know...
JOCO, He doesn't listen to me, maybe you should try a phone call. KP, That would be great, hopefully he's starting or will be wrestling in that tournament/match. Let me know and we can meet up for dinner or something downtown.
I would die on the no dairy diet. I mean, how much Tito's can one man drink to fill that void. Regarding wrestling diets, back in the day early 70's, I always wrestled up so I trained on Big Macs. But many of my friends wrestled down and lived on burnt toast and ExLax. They lived in sealed plastic suits and did hundreds of pushups a day. None of this would be considered acceptable today.
I remember a potato had 100 calories. You could make a pint or so of potato soup, eat the whole thing and you only took in 100 calories. All the salt and pepper you wanted.
You know these things still go on today, right? Not saying it's a good thing, I'm just glad my son is one of the bigger kids (at least in terms of strength). I can't believe what these kids do to stay in shape and under weight.
yeah, 50 years ago we didn't realize the possible negative affects, or at least I didn't. Fortunately, I wasn't that good so I didn't have to worry about it for very long. In high school, I also played football so I tried to put on weight half of the year and take it off the other half.
re: weight yo-yo I had the same problem. My best sport was basketball, but my favorite sports were football and baseball. I had to put on weight and lift weights for football, but lose weight for basketball and baseball.
well personally, I'm hoping for the addition of the 220/225 class so my son doesn't have to worry about it. Until then, the yo yo continues.
I played center and linebacker. I would show up on Aug 1 for summer two a day practices at 178-180, as bulked up as I could possibly get. I played both ways. After two weeks of two a days I was playing at 165-168 and eating constantly. By mid-season I was playing 162-165. I probably had body fat of < 5%. I wrestled under duress at 178 but my weight never went over 168-70 coming right after football season. The guys I wrestled were 200 lbers in football who slashed weight. I lived on Big Macs, bananas, ice cream and as much of my old man's beer as I could swipe. My coach gave me the same pep talk before every match ….. " Don't get pinned".
