Looks like you're about to get a little moist!
Hoping you all stay clear of any damage from Matthew!

Based on current track route it looks like we'll be fine. When you visit Florida you see signs on some roads that say "Hurricane evacuation route." I jokingly tell people that we live at the end of the route. We're about 85 miles from the Atlantic coast and about 40 miles from the gulf. Right now there's only tropical storm warnings for our county because of our distance from the Atlantic.

College Football is going to be impacted by this storm. I don't know if the Irish/NCState game is going to come off. There are other games in the Carolina's as well.

Thankfully I'm on the opposite side of the state this time.

As of 1:50 pm though the hurricane warnings are moving closer:

It's all a matter of location and perspective from where your located from the storm. My house is on the central ridge about 70 minutes from either coast.

And this is what the local stores are looking like, looks like most folks want wheat bread about as much as I do....

And this is what we are being told locally..

Because most of the grid is located along the coastal population centers the governor mentioned that up to 2/3 of the states 22 million people may lose power during this storm...No fear, have generator and pool to cool off if the power is off for for 13 days like last time. Guess I'm not going to catch up with the son in Gainesville to watch the game, too many crazies will be on the road the next few days...

Mathew is getting really close. Orlando expecting sustained winds of 78 mph. We're 50 or so miles west and forcasted winds are 40-60 mph. All quiet right now but it's gonna get a little noisy later on.

    Thanks Kes,

Things are at the climax at the moment or getting close to it as the storm crawls north. Actually as you can see the warnings are a bit subdued..

Concerned for the Skybox gathering next week now as the expected storm path is a loop right back into southern Florida on some forecast

    Family in Orlando are fine.

Friend with a first floor condo in Daytona Beach has 3 feet of water in unit, no flood insurance (could't get it) and brand new appliances and remodel. :(

Friend in Fort Myers is playing golf today.

Sorry to hear about your friend in Daytona beach, glad that the family is safe in Orlando and LOL at the friend playing golf...

We had no issues in Lake Placid overnight and are still getting the odd gust at 30 plus mph but happy that the storm stayed East of the State. I'm happy this turned out to be a dress rehearsal, I will take it every time...

Ralph could you arrange for that storm to peeter out in the Atlantic instead of doing a loop back there next week????

Wind starting to die down. Rain ebbing too. Had waves 1 to 2 ft. and a few came over the edge of the pool. No damage to report.

The only way I'm not coming down for Skybox gathering is if flights are cancelled. We should be ok. Stay tuned.

Sorry Ralph, with all that's been going on I haven't had a chance to look at Stu's suggestions.

I'll see what looks promising and throw out my votes, and we can tally things up around Thursday and make a call.
