BUCK T!!!!! Since we've got Heisman arguments going lately....I want to know how the OSU Nation feels about Eddie George gettin' the nod over Frazier in 95.....just one step higher an injustice than OJ walking the 1st time....
****....it's 8-4 now....I tell ya, I've got no luck. I could open a funeral parlor today and people would stop dying tomorrow
Didn't hear from you after the Yanks started to rally.....my guess is that the old sphincter was so tight it kept your hands from reaching the keyboard.....glad to see you've loosened up.
LOL... Oooohhh you Yankee fans. When the hell did you cross over to the dark side anyway Buck T? This is the 1st year I've ever heard you root for Vaders Vagrants, and I've been around these parts for awhile ya know...
I find it interesting, that in a sport that theoretically should be a "young mans" game that Andy Petite and Pedro Martinez are in crucial roles tonight.
I think that they both are young men, Terry. I guess it all depends on your perspective. (Seriously, I know what you mean, and I agree that it is interesting.)
Sid it seems to me that older pitchers are the rule these days, I'm not sure if that is an indictment of younger pitchers or just that the craft takes a long time to master. I think of Roger Clemens being so important to both the Astros and Yankees, Petite of course and Curt Schilling, the Big Unit in AZ WS year, I'm sure there are others. Pedro was on the scrap heap at the begining of this year.
Tonight sets up as a possible Yankee dream scenario. At Home. Andy Pettitte, everyone's favorite, on the mound. The DH back in effect. A totally rested bullpen. The hated Pedro going for Philly. And of course our hole card, Brad Lidge.
Terry, You have a valid point about the older pitchers. There also are the John Smoltzes on the other side of the coin, but the examples you cite are memorable as old guys being in positions to help their teams win. Sad but true for Phillies fans, George. Pretty funny if you're a Yankees fan.
It's not easy being a closer. It's even tougher being one in NYC. Then multiply by 10 if you are all of the above and in the WS.
