One of Stu's boys makes the big time.

    Sumlin to Houston

Rat-farts! The Aggies were set to bring KS back to College Station as Offensive Coord.
The article is off a bit. Kevin wasn't our OC for two years, only one.
We still get misty-eyed wondering "What if?" with regard to Reggie McNeal.
KS was in charge when we took down #1 OU, and McNeal was great.
He quickly deteriorated under the "tutelage" of Fraudione.

Kevin was the guy who took over midseason for you at OCoord when RC demoted the guy from Arizona isn't he?

I was surprised that he got the job though. I thought for sure that those idiots were going to go with Grampa Pardee. All the UH alums were thinking that it would bring back the good ole days, hell to bring back those they would have to bring back John Jenkins because he was the brains behind that offense. Pardee didn't know squat about the Run' Shoot. But the hangup was supposedly that Pardee wanted a free rein with his staff and Maggert wanted a tight rein on staff salaries and veto power on staff.

Mike Haywood was in the running but in the end the terrible year the Irish had on offense did him in and there was no way the influenential alumni would stand to bring in a guy who's offense (even though everybody knows it was Charlies fault) was dead last in Div1.

Sumlin's offense on the other hand was dynamic this year, and the suden emergence of Sam Bradford was also a positive. Plus I'll bet that Sumlin agreed to Maggerts terms with regard to staff.

Good luck to him. I'd like to see the Cougars continue the strides they made under Art Briles.
