8) The Tigers have sure surprised the heck out of me! Two years ago, I had written off the entire town as a minor league land-fill. Looking at them now, they have a brand new stadium, players and winning attitude...I keep waiting for them to fold up like an old accordion, but they're beginning to make a believer out of me... ............DD
I'm prepared for the worst... the Yankees are not doing well in low scoring games and Detoit's pitching has been excellent and the Yankee lineup is riddled with MIAs. Nonetheless, we'll play the games
Re: Tigers Who says coaching doesn't matter? Look at how Jim Leyland has completely turned around the attitude in Detroit with the same players. Exactly like Ara did at ND back in 1964. Whether or not they make the postseason, the Tigers have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Now......look at the Cubs. I was watching Comcast Sports Chicago last night, and this media dweeb who makes Mr. Peepers look handsome said that Dusty Baker can't make a difference on a team whose offensive stats are at or near the bottom of the NL. In other words, if the players don't hit, it's not the coach's fault. I guess the coach also can't be blamed if the pitchers don't pitch and the fielders don't field. Duh! Don't you just love it? Sportswriters who cover a game they know absolutely nothing about.
Rogers, Bonderman, Verlander, Robinson, Jones, Zumaya, and Rodney. Can you say major league pitching?
And as JO'Co mentioned a few weeks ago at the Angel game, similar to Sid's point, look who's working with them behind the plate.
Since... <t>Dusty Baker was brought up I ask every single year how Toothpick keeps his job? Hasn't a clue how to handle pitchers and when you watch them play they seem to be just putting in three hours and get out of the park.<br/> <br/> I used to zip past Tigers games on MLB Extra now I stay and watch as they are talented and fun to watch in spite of their awful uniforms, lol.</t>
