with the parents of those kids from Springdale. They don't like the run oriented Ark offense and have met with Broyles to get some answers. I have read on other boards that Mustains mother has told Nutt that she will pull Mitch unless he is the starter and move him to another program. I think we've had a few of those types of parents....I can think of the Lovecchio's and the Olsen's as parents who demanded their sons be given the starting job or they were transfering. They were shown the door and neither Matt Lovecchio or the Olsen kid ever amounted to much as college QB's at their new schools.
Who was the kid that transfered to Maryland I think, a QB who's mom was at practice everyday and held her own press conferences?
Josh Portis, QB from somewhere in greater Los Angeles. Woodland Hills, maybe? On a tangent ..... when Chris Leak switched his commitment to UF, one of the "warnings" I read on the interent (LOL!!) was his father was going to be a problem for UF. Things seem to have worked out okay during CL's tenure at UF. I hope the seemingly positive nature of that relationship holds through and beyond the 2007 NFL draft.
Wow, three sets of stage door parents. They power played themselves into Arkansas as a package deal and even brought the old HS coach along for good measure. Broyles must have anticiapted this hostile takeover would come sooner or later. The worm turns.....
I can only echo Gaterz opinion that I am glad Williams and Cleveland went to Arkansas. And I can say the same for Portis, glad his mother took their act to Maryland. I will also echo that Leak's parents have not been a problem at Florida and that Chris Leak has been a class act throughout his career.
Not to hijack the thread but must agree with Bill on Chris Leak. While I'm sometimes frustrated by his apparent loss of focus (just my observation and characterization, no evidence he in fact does lose focus) ...... he has been a #1 class act during his entire career. No complaints .... inspite of two headcoaches, three offensive coordinators, and having to "share" time with a freshman phenom during his senior season.
8) Aaaahhh... tis the season! I love these heart warming stories of family love and team play. Sounds like they have a lot of ho-ho hoes at Arkansas... re: Leaks My opinion of all the Leaks hasn't changed. They're the worst of all. Gator fans never got to see them in action, because Chris never had to ride the pine. If he had ever been named 2nd string for even ten seconds, his daddy would have yanked him outta there and transferred him to Nevada Las Vegas, or wherever Dennis Erickson was coaching... .........JO'Co
Chris himself has been a great inspirational player and a model representative of the University of Florida. He will go down in fan history with Spurrier, Gaffney, Bell, Matthews, Weurffel and Grossman as all-time favorite UF Qbs.
JO'Co, I don't expect to change either you or Tom, but I can say that Urban Meyer spoke highly of the Leak family.
