Terry, I just saw that Team North America is composed of the top players in the U.S. and Canada age 23 and under. They beat Finland convincingly and lost a close game 4-3 to Russia.

Terry, a little surprised that the tournament had a team "North America" and Europe. In prior tournaments ( formerly called the Canada Cup) all teams were represented a single nation. I guess the idea behind Team Europe was because many of the European nations that play hockey could not field a competitive team or were unwilling to endure the cost of fielding a team for this tourament. Team NA was probably created so that the tournament could consist of two 4-team groups. But, it is hard to get excited about a hybrid Canadian-American team when both countries already have a team.

Team USA is out already of the tourney getting soundly beat in their first two games by Team Europe and Canada. Guess I will now root for the Sweedes since their style of play is creative and fun to watch.
