I have pretty much been absent and apologize. I have a bit on the plate, not the least of is my aging body. On Wednesday, June 17, I will be getting a hip replacement. It came as a bit of a surprise to me as I had been on a therapy program for my back that really worked. However as my back became better overall it revealed that part of my problem was the hip but was masked by compensating for my back. Regardless I am scheduled for the replacement on Wednesday and hopefully will recover quick enough to take a dream vacation we have scheduled in October, a month in France. When we get back from that I hope to resume my bowling. Regardless, keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I will check in when I return home.
Good luck, Bill. At our age we all know several folks who have had hip replacements. In my case, all I've heard is the good news that it has improved their quality of life. You're a tough guy. I'm sure you will recover well and enjoy your trip to France. Take care.
Thanks Sid and Scott. Sid, I don't know about tough, but I do know that I will commit myself to getting better ASAP to be able to live the lifestyle I want to live. Scott, yeah middle of football season but it's also a once in a lifetime trip. The only home game it will cause us to miss is Ole Miss. Away is Missouri and LSU. But this is a dream trip for my wife and I am looking forward to it.
Bill If you get the Gator games on your home tv you can get a slingbox and watch all the games in Europe. (assuming you take a laptop with you.)
I've got a Slingbox and they do work. As far as the hip, I have noticed that those who I know who have had a hip replaced seemed to recover faster and with less pain than those with a knee. But good luck Bill, I know you'll do well and be ready for the lanes and France!
Bill, Hope all goes well with the hip replacement, medicine has advanced to new heights in recent years, should not be a major problem for you. just an afterthought, how is your French? Don
Thanks Stu, you planning on having both knees replaced at the same time? My wife had both hers replaced but not both at the same time. This is my first go at replacements. I still have both knees.
Bill <t>Bill,<br/> <br/> Ditto on the best wishes. Hope it all goes smoothly and you recover rapidly without any complications.</t>
Bill I'm sure you'll do fine. The key of course is to do your therapy and do the exercises that they give you to do by yourself. The only drawback with s new joint is going through security at the airport.
Anyone want to do a Skybox reunion at the Vaughter's house on the evening of the 29th? We are doing a motorcycle trip to Tennessee and have scheduled that address as one of our stops.
One of the reasons I am getting this done now is that we are going to France for a month in October. So I guess I will find out about the airport security. Looking forward to seeing Tom and Cindy. They will see me shortly after the operation so a night on the town is pretty much out of the question. Then again a night out on the town in our little town and at my age probably isn't that exciting anyway.
