Of course Bill you have posted an article written by a conservative hard right-winger author of Creators. I wonder why she is critical of Obama?
    Hmmmmmm.....

In any event.....I personally know that while not it's former self.....and broke in many aspects......SE Michigan is still alive if not well and many many workers are still at or back at work and that is essential to survival for many communities like the Detroit area which the auto industry supports economically.

Without a bailout there was real talk of liquidation and if that had happened I can't see how that would have done anything other than
severely hurt a lot more people than did get hurt.....such as myself for instance.

Many people did lose their jobs.......but it could have been much much worse.

Of course Dave if can't refute what someone says then attack them.

The point of the article is that a lot of the bailouts were political and if you weren't in a group that were Obama supporters then you likely didn't get as much help.

Seems to me the lady presented facts.

    Bill,

The UAW opposed the GM spin-off of Delphi in 1999 for good reason.....it was the beginning of the end for GM like benefits for the Delphi workers who until that time had been full-blooded GM workers with full benefits.

GM didn't buy back some parts of Delphi until 2009 after bankruptcy reorganization plans were in full swing or had already occurred so any lost benefits that Delphi workers had prior to the GM bankruptcy era were in the works or had been occurring since 1999 and not a part of any union benefit reduction plan for the regular GM worker. I believe Delphi workers had already suffered significant benefit reductions in the years heading up to the GM bailout.

GM had plans to close up to 2000 out of 6000 dealerships and I would like to know how this author had the time to research all of those closures and determine if it was soley their political leanings that had everything to do with their closure over factors like effciency of operation and profitability.

Shame on you, Bill. If a conservative author wrote that article it is a pack of lies! Only liberal writers tell the truth!

    Wait! It's Rush Limbaugh's fault!

ThinkProgress Blames Rush Limbaugh For GM’s Decision To Halt Chevy Volt Production…

Do they really believe one conservative radio host is this powerful? The answer to that question is apparently, yes.
    Via ThinkProgress:

Relentless attacks on the Chevy Volt from Rush Limbaugh and Republican politicians have taken their toll, as General Motors has announced a five-week suspension in production of the range-extended electric car. Conservative enemies of clean energy and the Obama administration seized on isolated reports Volts with battery fires, calling the cars “Obama-mandated death traps.” Limbaugh even said GM was a “corporation that’s trying to kill its customers.”

These conspiracy-tinged partisan attacks have now cost American jobs, with 1300 workers temporarily laid off in the face of lower than expected demand for the innovative cars, even as gas prices rise. In January, GM CEO Dan Akerson bemoaned the effect of the barrage of ideological criticism on the popularity of the 37–93 mpg car:

We did not design the Volt to become a political punching bag and that’s what it’s become.

Oh, and about those attacks? After an investigation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration determined that the Volt is just as safe as any gasoline-powered vehicle on the road.

Heartache: GM Halts Production of Chevy Volt, Lays Off 1,300 Workers…
    [IMG]
And in the same week Obama vows buy one, Christmas comes early this year.

(DFP) — General Motors has told 1,300 employees at its Detroit Hamtramck that they will be temporarily laid off for five weeks as the company halts production of the Chevrolet Volt and its European counterpart, the Opel Ampera.

“Even with sales up in February over January, we are still seeking to align our production with demand,” said GM spokesman Chris Lee.

Lee said employees were told Thursday that production would put on hold from March 19 to April 23.

The Chevrolet Volt, an extended-range electric car, is both a political lightning rod and a symbol of the company’s technological capability.

Chevrolet sold 1,023 Volts in the U.S. in February and has sold 1,626 so far this year.

Rush Limbaugh, the All Powerful. 8)

More Powerful than GM. Than labor unions. Than Obama. Than the federal government. Than the taxpayers dollars.

    He is unstoppable.

Limbaugh makes his money off his own talent. Pelosi makes hers from the public tit. No comparison.
And by the way, I listen to Limbaugh often. From the very beginning he stated that the majority of American car buyers don't want electric cars. They are way too expensive, have limited electric range and the insurance on them is very expensive.
Sales of the Volt have been in the hundreds from the beginnning. Don't the Liberal assholes in this country ever have a reason for failure other than some Conservative or Republican is at fault?

Blaming Rush Limbaugh for the Volt failing is about as lame as anything I know. If the car was a good product it would sell.

Seems this administration thrives on the blame game. The same people who blamed Bush for every problem on the day he took office now blame him for everything four years later. Tatics the Dims used to not appoint judges are now out of line in their opinion.

The Keystone Pipeline has been postponed because of the Republicans. A project that was approved at every level is now the fault of the big bad republicans because they forced a decision.

Now Rush Limbaugh is responsible for the Volt problems. It has nothing to do with the problems the car has had including fires from charging it, it is Rush's fault.

This is the worst administration I have ever seen as far as accepting responsibility for nothing.
