Just reading my copy of this weeks U.S. News and World Report....the "Washington Whispers" column by Paul Bedard is what I always like to turn to first. Well this week Paul and the copy editors stepped in it big time! Did you know that the "REVOLUTIONARY"War battle of Ft. McHenry inspired Francis S. Key to write "the Star-Spangled Banner"?

    Tsk...tsk...

How pathetic is that? There are teachers I know who don't even teach the War of 1812 at all; even though its a part of the state standards. I like to teach the story of the Star Spangled Banner backwards, with the murder of Francis Scott Key's son by Congressman Dan Sickles for sleeping with his wife. That gets their attention more than just memorizing the words...heh...heh...

Maybe that US News stooge should take my class...

    :p

I'd just be happy if more folks knew the words.
