Lost in the glut of conference championship games yesterday was the performance of Tiger Woods in the Chevron World Challenge. Yes, it's not an "official" tour event. Yes it has an abreviated field. However the field is made up of top players with plenty of Ryder Cuppers. If it weren't for Graeme McDowell, it would be a complete runaway. He's hitting it stiff from 190 time and again. He has a new putter and so far, it's been effective. Of course, it's not official until Doc makes his prediction for the year. However, it looks like Tiger's assault on Jack's Majors record may begin again this year.
Abreviated field?? That's an understatement...the top 50 were invited and the response was so bad that they had to go into the next 50 and could only come up with what 18 or 20 guys willing to play. It's more like a grapefruit league exhibition game. No pressure on Tiger. Glad to see him playing well though, as gip said he's good for the game when he's good. I just don't see him being good enough to win another major this year, probably never win another major, the hunger is just not their any more.
Well Tiger blows a 4 shot lead, and is in a playoff. In years past his brilliant 2nd shot on #18 would have deflated his opponent who mildly go away. Instead McDowell drains a 20 footer to match Tigers birdie. Game On.
