That seems odd that the guys wouldn't already have whatever they need to keep their weapon clean.

I'd be curious as to what AJHuskerfan says about this, assuming he reads it.

    I'M HERE FOR YA DOC!!!
    There's a reason for that.

The Marine Corps has gear that is already provided and authorized for use of cleaning the M-16A2 service rifle. This is something that you could use, but it's not authorized. The Marine Corps has certain govt contracts they are locked into, based on cost, efficiency and service approval of the product. Once again, you could use this, but if there is a weapons malfunction or damage caused to the weapon per the unauthorized use of an unapproved product....that Marine can stand by.....Moral of the story, use what's issued in the butt stock. It works just fine.

And furthermore, IMHO, it's a sales pitch. Tax free donation so they can send a Marine/Soldier something to clean their weapon with?. They already have it thank you.

The SFC that posted that request made it sound like they didn't have any gear to clean with. If that's true, then that's a leadership problem. If your men go into a combat zone with without doing weapons and gear check first, your wrong.

Well, I guess if it's really a sales pitch and unneeded, that's good to know.

I use bore snakes to clean my shotguns and they really work well...better than anything else I've found.

I got this out of an article (not an ad) in the NRA's magazine American Rifleman so I figured it was legit.

    Sent 'em some money.
