After suffering through the ND-Alabama game, I felt Smith would win the Heisman. I am somewhat consoled to see it happen, knowing that we have a decent defensive backfield, as proven during the regular season, but he shredded it with his speed, moves, and hands. Clearly a great player and fully deserving.
Sid, Read earlier this morning that Smith might be a #5 pick and go to Cincinnati. He and Burrow might make a wonderful offensive combination.
That would be interesting. I can't imagine there has ever been a Heisman QB throwing to a Heisman WR.
Lamar Jackson when Mark Ingram is in the game for the Ravens it's a Heisman to Heisman hand off, but I don't think either Tim Brown or the guy from Michigan ever had a Heisman Qb throwing to them!
Don't want to imply anything here, but I do wonder how this might have played out if Jaylan Waddle had been healthy all year. Devonta is a great player and deserving, but sometimes fate helps.
Terry, I agree wholeheartedly. With Waddle, I think the offensive productivity would have gone up but the individual numbers would have been split.
I think he was definitely the guy who deserved it (since it's an offensive award). Waddle healthy all year probably gives it to Jones... as his numbers actually would have gone up while Smith's were split with Waddle.
