No clear front runner at this point, which is as it should be since only 4 games or so have been played. But if I were looking for some guys to follow I'd have to look at the B12 where Chase Daniel, Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford are all having great seasons so far.

You have to put Tim Tebow as only a possible, maybe, could still happen but not likely. I wonder though if John Parker Wilson will start creeping up in peoples minds if the Tide continues to do well. QB's need stats though and maybe the Tide are too much of a running football team for him to get enough stats to make a run at it.

I don't see anybody in the PAc10 right now, but again it's early Sanchez or McKnight could get on a big roll starting next weekend. The Big East and the ACC aren't likely home to any Heisman candidates that I can think of, Pat White is quickly falling from peoples memory. Not to mention Navy beat what many thought was one of the best ACC teams when they beat Wake Forrest.

Yes on both accounts. It was Jim Bob Cooter you're thinking of but at this point, we could have Tebow on the bench and I believe Fulmer would still start Crompton.

As far as the meds are concerned, yes I am. #108 is still valiantly holding on to its struggle to remain unborn. The bottle says that I can take it every 4 to 6 hours as needed. I am waiting 7 hours minimum to see what the pain level actually is to determine if I need to get professional help or stay medicated.

It's more fun to remain medicated. I can order Cindy around and claim that it is the fault of the hydrocodone. Wait... nah, she won't read this... will she?

.....don't count Beanie out. There is no front runner....if he's healthy, he can jump right back in to the race.....speaking of jumping, this ain't too bad for a 250 lb running back on a bad wheel!?

I forgot about Beanie, no doubt if he gets on a roll he can win it. But he'll have to stay injury free and have some big games in big games (PSU, UM, Whisky, etc) to be there at the end.

Agreed.....my guess is that he will have to dominate some high profile games to get back on the short list of favorites. He looked good Saturday in limited action - 18 carries and he's wearing ortho shoes to protect his foot which limits his cutback ability....big game at Wisky this Sat. We'll see how he's feeling.....

This week it should suprise nobody that Colt McCoy has a commanding lead in the unoffical straw polls for the Heisman. Here's this weeks poll.

A good point though is that at this point last year Tim Tebow was somewhere down the list and not considered a "contender" for the Heisman.

I see that Colt McCoy has already announced he will return to Texas for his last year no matter what happens this year. I never really thought he wouldn't return, of course I think at this time in VY's last year he was certain he would return, but Colt as good a year as he's having isn't really in VY's class as a prospect.

I thought it was interesting though that he compared himself to Tony Romo, in terms of how he plays QB. That's where it stops, Colt is a very religous kid like Tim Tebow and doubtfull he'd have the same social life as Tony Romo.

I don't really know what Colt's future in the NFL is, before this year I saw him as an undrafted free agent, still can't see him as a #1 draft pick but that could change if he continues to excel like he has this year.

The other thing is that if he left after this year, Texas would be screwed at QB. None of the backups are really very good QB's, and while they do have a kid comming in next fall who is a terrific prospect, big, gun for an arm, sort of kid. He'd still be a true freshman and that's a lot to put on a kid at a place like Texas. He'll be much better off if Colt stays and he plays a little to get his feet wet, but not have to be the guy at QB.
