An unofficial t-shirt making the rounds has a picture of Saint Joe Kelly on one side and "Heaters for Cheaters" on the other. This topic deserves it's own thread, because players are going to go after the Lastros for years to come. This is just getting started. Today there was a bench clearing shoving match after the Strohs hit one of the A's best players twice, with the Strohs hitting coach trying to start a fight all day...
Lastros finally arrived in LA today. They were met at the airport by angry crowds of concerned citizens and their buses were harassed on the freeways. The situation escalated at Dodger Stadium where they were greeted by crowds with bullhorns shouting obscenities and throwing objects at the buses. Overhead there were several aircraft towing various signs demanding that the Strohs be stripped of their illegal title. The game is on now...
The Dodgers aren't going to win **** until they go get themselves a real closer. That's the best team in baseball that can't close a game. They are great in spite of Kenley. That's a problem.
Love the one you're with Gipper. No pigskins in the air around these parts....yet. Any word on the vote yet?
The demise of Kenley has been two years in the making and last night may have been the final straw. After blowing several big leads this year, he was asked to hold a three-run lead at home; he never got a single out. He never hit a single catcher's target either. This could be the end of the line for him. The team has the greatest bullpen in baseball, because they've been collecting closers from other teams the last two years and it looks like now is the time to open the door for them: Blake Treinen, Jake McGee, Saint Joe Kelly, (serving his suspension against the Lastros so he won't be tempted to do it again) Dylan Floro and Caleb Ferguson. Tonight's game will be tryout day for the bullpen and the starter will be Bazooka Graterol, the kid who throws over 100mph. Once again, Dodger dogs are lined up awaiting the buses to arrive with trashcans, bullhorns, fruits and vegetables... Here is Saint Joe Kelly posing with the artist of the new mural on Floyd's Barbershop in Silverlake. Thousands have braved fires and crowds of Commie rioters to see this masterpiece for themselves...
Blake Treinen short term. He was the greatest closer in the American League, then had one bad year and the A's let him go. He's 32. In the long run, 22 year-old Bazooka Graterol throws everything over 100 mph and it looks like he's just playing catch. Last night, he struck out the side and his first seven pitches were strikes. The team is grooming him for the job.
Roberts gave Kenley another chance to save a big game last night against the Padres. He was charged with holding a two run lead in San Diego. It took him 28 pitches. He loaded the bases with one out, then struck out the final two batters to survive...
