I'm sure that the Irish faithful and Bobda remember Oliver, it was his kick as time ran out that won the storied "the wind suddenly stopped" game. He lost his battle with cancer at a very early age.
What a shame. The good too often die young. His legacy surrounding that famous kick will live forever among ND (and MI) fans. RIP.
That was a chilling moment when he made that kick, one of the great moments in ND history and to listen to it being called was also chilling...it was Tony Roberts at his best. RIP
Very sad, way to young to die. RIP to a young man who gave us one of the most famous moments in the N/ND rivalry. Bob Ufer's radio call of the kick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRlk0QB4pUY&mode=related&search=
There's a humorous moment in Ufer's call of the kick. He tried three times to get the final score correct. He obviously was upset to see that the kick was good. I felt his pain in '93 when I watched the BC kick go through the uprights.
Here's Tony Roberts call...he gets the score right the first time!! <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5qiAEeudOs8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5qiAEeudOs8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
