hmmm...so that is obviously a lot of money and I'm sure there was a tax and retirement planning reason for taking less per year than Manny but get a longer term for this contract. Manny gets an avg of 30M/year and Harper is settling for 25.3M/year. Lot of smoke screen, he was going to the Dodgers, then the Giants were still in and the Phillies never gave up and gave him the deal he wanted. He definitely has financial security for the rest of his life unless he does stupid stuff.
baaah he went for the money, the Phillies are loading up on some nice players to go with their young talent. I'll be surprised if they aren't in the running.
Here's what the Phillies lineup looks like. Bryce Harper signs with Phillies: Here's how Philly's lineup could look after adding the superstar slugger
I see that Jo'co posted that the Mets are still paying Bobby Bonilla, and will still be paying him when the Phillies finish paying Harper's!
No question the Phillies lineup has the potential to be murderous. Key word....potential. Any lineup that has Andrew McCutcheon batting 6th is a good one......potentially.
Surprised but relieved the Cubs never made a run at him but at some point in time, that contract will become an albatross for the Phillies.
What is wrong with the Mets? Shouldn't they be better? I noticed that they offered Yasmani Grandal a 4 year contract and he turned it down.
Bobda, after your comment above, every time I see one of those Captain Obvious commercials on TV, I’ll think of you.
