My son a proud University of Florida student and esteemed member of its Horticulture Club is visiting France this week with the mentioned club. I am told it is all educational of course for the betterment of human kind. You believe him right....? Well in his traveling he found himself in Normandy on VE Day and here are a few pictures.... And because he was thirsty at 1:30 in the morning he shared this brew made by monks in the nearby Abby. Said he talked politics with two Poles about Russia and Lithuania, Poles said they hated Russia and liked Lithuania but feared for their safety. Did I mention I am 50% Lithuanian on my mothers side...... And for bonus points a garden planted by Monet so he could paint it later on.. The life..........
Thanks, Ralph, for reminding us of the significance of this date. We tend to forget important days like today. I know I did. The photos are great. Your son is a nice looking young man. Must take after his mom, right?
Great stuff Ralph! But I'm concerned about your son. What if this young scholar gets kidnapped by French girls and taken to Paris? You know the kind of girls I'm talking about; the one's who wear berets and tight sweaters to show their pert, supple breasts. This area of Europe has dragged down dedicated, young intellectuals before...
Sid I "used" to look that good but now I resemble that stick that's been stuck under your car and drug around for a week.... JO'Co your fears of slinky villainous perky young lasses are true I'm sure, but I've been assured this is strictly educational endeavouring to benefit mankind... My 83 year old father told him to not bring anything back that won't wash off and don't leave anything there that will call back one day....Of course he then told us that while serving in the Navy he visited all the museums and higher learning institutions France had to offer.... 8) Thanks guys, I'm excited for him and a tad envious as well, and now I feel I should check out the dangers the pert, supple breast woman may cause my son personally. Purely in the pursuit of safety and education of course...I don't even smoke and feel the need for a cigarette now for some reason..
That reminds me of what the Reverend Jeffers used to say about his tour in the army...."the end all virginity tour"....
The Rev....he had a birthday recently...RIP. Thanks for the photo's Ralph, I didn't know the Gators ever left the state of Fla! Maybe that's just in football.
