This from the Columbus Dospatch: *COLUMBUS, Ohio* — An Ohio State University student on Monday got to tear up his tuition bills, after a basketball game where he sunk a memorable shot. Freshman Austin Hylander played four years of high school basketball, but it took him a second to say yes to the halftime contest at a recent Ohio State women's game at Value City Arena, 10TV's Andy Hirsch reported. "At first I thought I didn't really want to do it being this big of an arena, and all these people but then I thought about it and I was like 'What the heck,'" Hylander said. "It's about a once-in-a-lifetime chance so why not take it?" *SLIDESHOW: Images From Report<http> * Hylander had 30 seconds to attempt four different shots. A layup got him a $50 gift certificate to Big Lots; a free throw a $100 gift certificate; a three-point shot, a $500 gift certificate, and if he made a half-court shot, he would walk away with a free year of tuition, Hirsch reported. "I shot the first one, and I actually missed it. And I thought I was going to embarrass myself," Hylander said. "I was trying to go for the three-pointer, that's all, because the three pointer was worth $500." Then he stepped back to the half court line. "The first one, I air balled it left. And the second one, actually hit the rim, the front of the rim so it was just short," Hylander said. "So the third one, all I knew is to put a little more on to it." Excerpt from Columbus Dispatch: That shot had the right touch, and Hylander made the basket, Hirsch reported. "I threw my arms up in the air because I knew it was in," Hylander said. People are still congratulating him on the shot that was valued at about $8,000, a shot Hylander said was simply "awesome." "It's just unreal to me. I've never had anything like this," Hylander said. "I've never won anything this big, this is just so amazing." The OSU Big Lots, Big Shot contest has been around for four years at both men's and women's basketball games and men's ice hockey games. Hylander is the first student to win free tuition, Hirsch reported.
Was that at the game where they brought back the 1960 NCAA Champion Team of Knight, Havileck, and Lucas? BTW question: Did Fred Taylor retire or get forced out? Did he ever coach again?
Terry, No this was at at one of the ladies game. Fred Taylor resigned as he was disgusted with the recruiting game. He was not one to mince his thoughts and beliefs. He passed away a few years ago. A championship banner was raised in his behalf Sunday at the Minnesota game and the 1960 team in attendance. Fred and Bobby Knight remained close friends to the end. Don
