Scott would be to modest to post this! He's a big fan! Oh yeah it's another obscure womens sport. Title IX Strikes again! :?
Congratulations, kp. My kids' former high school is something of a gymnastics power in Indiana. It's a great sport both for boys and girls, although in Indiana it's only a girls' sport. It actually is a tough sport, injury-wise.
And let's not forget Maryland Eastern Shore who knocked off Vandy in the finals of the NCAA Bowling championships.
Congratz to the Bama ladies! BTW- As someone who's grandkids are now getting their college education paid FREE by Title IX, I just wanna say that I LIKE IT!
Actually I do like it as well. My only problem with it is that it has hurt minor sports for men and some of the sports that are getting full rides these days are hardly mainstream. For example the Equestrian team, the Bowling team, Rifle, Rowing, water polo, etc. I believe we have a rowing team at Texas, now I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the number of high school girls in Texas who participate in competitive rowing is a pretty small number, but they have to have it inorder to balence with football. I think it would be better if the kept football out of it and said if you have a mens soccer team you have to have a womens soccer team, if you have Mens Lacrosse you have to have womens Lacrosse and on down the line. But even though volleyball and gymnastics are olympic sports for men and women you don't have many mens teams in them. Actually even as big a sport as soccer has become you don't have a single B12 team with a mens soccer team. Texas is a huge state for producing male soccer players they only have 1 choice for college in state, SMU. That's it, because of the way Title IX is implemented. Keep Title IX, change the way it's implemented.
Congratulations KP. I was watching some of the bowling, it was really boring and I sure don't understand the format of a bowling game where 5 bowlers bowl two frames each. Oh well.
Congrats kp! An NC is an NC. Take it and run! Terry, at least the equestrian team can be girls from Texas. We had a NC winning women's archery team... but most of them weren't even American! Glad we went with something that can benefit home-state girls! 8)
