Alabama goes to Knoxville this Saturday without a chance in hell of losing and hardly a chance of not blowing out the Vols. I was sitting and thinking about this yesterday when pondering what to watch on this....a weekend when the Gators are off. This season......more than any I can remember has been bereft of upsets of the top teams or even well played close games when the top 5 echelon plays their weaker opponents. Then today I read this article: http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/alabama-lsu-oklahoma-oklahoma-state-college-football-season-has-playoff-feel-101711 " Las Vegas has taken a bath the past two weekends with the big favorites covering massive point spreads in just about every instance. “The sports books are getting big-time clobbered this month on Saturdays. All the top favorites are covering giant point spreads. It’s borderline historic,” explains RJ Bell, an analyst for sports gambling site Pregame.com. “The AP’s top 10 rated teams are 16-1-1 vs. the spread over the past two weeks. That’s unheard of.” I don't ever recall not anticipating UA-UT to be a great game to watch and then have it deliver. Not this year.....in will be over by the middle of the 3rd quarter. Alabama rolls by over a 30 point margin that may be over 40.....
Heck....I have seen Bama score 38 and LSU score 41 in successive weeks.....that after watching Florida score 48..... Been there done that George.....
The Vols were very game.......surprisingly so......but succumbed to a bad spot on a 4th down try at their own 40 and a bad review as well.......both of which seem to happen with regularity when playing in the state of Alabama imho. They caved in after that and Bama became yet another top team to cover a huge spread.
I suspected you would take it that way Kp. But you have to admit to a little discomfort that the score at half was 6-6 with Tenn playing lights out on defense. Only down by 7 in mid 3rd quarter they went for the 1st down and were on the short end of what looked like a bad spot to me. And then all hell broke loose and Bama kicked the crap out of the Vols just like I knew or at least thought I knew would happen. Does that description defy what you witnessed?
This one is pretty accurate. This one seems to indicate that 2 plays were the only differences in the game. You saw the stats, right? You watched the game right? You know the score right? It's okay man, you don't have to answer those questions, I know the drill. And the real kicker is the referee and Alabama reference, but that's okay like I said I know the drill. Man we need those guys. Without them we would probably be 3 and 5 and struggling to get any bowl. Shoot we don't have to worry about LSU at all. 8)
Atta boy, kp! I can point out an obvious pass interference call that was "missed" by the Pac12 refs early in the ND-USC game. It could have changed the course of the game. Maybe, maybe not. We were 3 and out on that series. A PI call would have given us a 1st down near midfield. To the credit of my fellow NDers, none of us mentioned it as having an impact on the outcome of the game........and the winning margin was 14 points, about half of Alabama's winning margin.
Sid, I guess since Florida was having such a good year, he figured that Tom could use the "help".
Dude......Bama dominated Tenn and I predicted it.....not that it was a tough prediction to make. From my opening statement in the topic: "Alabama goes to Knoxville this Saturday without a chance in hell of losing and hardly a chance of not blowing out the Vols." It just took a little longer to happen.....much longer than I anticipated and I am sure longer than you anticipated and I enjoyed watching the game up until the "spot review" and subsequent immediate Tide TD after the turnover on a long pass to make the game an uninteresting blowout the rest of the way. Doesn't mean squat other than Tenn was fired up until then and didn't have the gas to hang with Bama after that.......not in the least. Do I detect a little concern that Tenn may have planted in your brain about LSU in two weeks? A little chink in the armor perhaps?
Tom doesn't want, nor need, Dave's help. I know an a$$ whipin' when I see one. I also know when an a$$ whipin' is probable. You can figure out when that is by the 20 points wagered against the Vols.
MCG, You need to go back and read my posts after just about every Alabama game. Please read them. I have been concerned about our slow starts since the Kent State game. You obviously have a keen sense of the obvious!
About to sign up another Bammer Jammer here on the Skybox. I'll post a welcome topic to draw him in. He is the guy that I see when I bring my Harley in for service. His Skybox name will be Bear13.
Damn....I was pretty right on about this game: "it will be over by the middle of the 3rd quarter. Alabama rolls by over a 30 point margin that may be over 40....." The middle of the 3rd quarter is when Bama went up by 20-6 on the sudden change long TD and voila.....the game was over and Bama was heading for a 31 point win.
Donnie is the person that my sales person pointed me to when I had an issue with the service department. Since I have been working with him as my service contact, I have had zero issues. His idea of the perfect Harley is one that is the right shade of Crimson with a big white stripe. I suggested the number 13 on both sides of the tank like the Bama player numbers on the helmets.
Hmmm...what would Bear and 13 have to do with Alabama? Do you have a large indigenous population of the mammal? Perhaps 13 varieties? Or, 13 weeks out of the year the defense hibernates? Can't think of a single thing that Bear, 13, and Alabama might have in relation kp!
