And some about the rest of the ACC. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10296567 I think I really like this guy and hope he is successful, without hurting the Gators of course!
when <t>the Irish were dumping their former DC and Miami was flirting with Schiano, I prayed (often aloud) that Shannon would be discarded by the Cane family and CW would scoop him up to fill the role as DC at ND. <br/> <br/> That isn't to say I am not happy, so far, with our DC hire. Our new guy appears to be a machine and if anyone has ever seen the video of Corwin Brown earholing Keyshaun Johnson, you know he loves hitting. However, there just isn't anyone tougher than Shannon. He's a bad mofo who knows defense.<br/> <br/> Miami (post Schnellenberger) built their tradition on the winnings of pimps and rap stars who stood for nothing but getting ahead as fast as they could. Shannon isn't one of those guys. He's a defense first guy who will make the Canes tougher. A lot tougher. I'm not sure how he'll work out as a HC, but defense will be his priority in Miami.. Look for a return to their brutal defensive ways.</t>
Corey, Miami had a pretty tough defense last year under Shannon but their offense was anemic at best. But like you I would look for that defense to get even better. Shannon has also pretty well shut down South Florida in recruiting and has a great class going. Although not as great a recruiting area as Gonzo sometimes expounded it is a great recruiting area. So far Shannon recruited very well in the short time he had during the last cycle, is getting a lot of very good players so far and is taking a tough stance with his players attitudes. In reading his resume he has sure put up with some tough times in his life and rose above it, I see him as a top notch person and wish him nothing but the best. Now if he could carry some of that attitude over to the Miami fans that might even bring me back as a bit of a fan! 8) 8) As long as it doesn't negatively affect the Gators that is!
Great....Shannon just might right the Miami ship just in time to resume the series with Florida. Super.....
